Rolls Royce Takes The Plunge And Commits To Luxury SUV In 2018 - Is Bentley's Goose Cooked Now?

In an open letter published on 18 February, Rolls-Royce chairman Peter Schwarzenbauer and chief executive Torsten Müller-Ötvös confirmed the development of 'an all-new Rolls-Royce with exceptional presence, elegance and purpose.' In the works is 'a high-bodied car with an all-new aluminium architecture... that can cross any terrain.'

Yep, you read that right. we can now confirm that the Rolls crossover has been approved. CAR magazine first revealed the posh 4x4 back in our March 2013 issue.

For more than two years, the British luxury marque has been evaluating the opportunities of a top-notch SUV positioned above even 2016's Bentley Bentayga. And today, they've finally taken the plunge and committed to it publicly.

I'm sure execs noticed the 40 yr old G Class increase in sales the last few years and figured...why not,or the best selling model at Porsche, the Cayenne...

With the Maybach S Class, already snatching up record pre-orders, Bentley and Rolls would be fools not to add another source of revenue to their line ups

Why does someone always have to be afraid or have their goose cooked? Seems lux SUVs are selling well no matter the brand.

Eat or be eaten, if you don't give your customer options....someone else will...which has led to the "plug every whole and then some" era for the Germans lol

Rolls execs were only going to sit so long watching high end 6 figure SUV's like the G-Class and Cayenne eat potential lunch, the Range Rover was fine but when you've got the likes of Maserati, Jaguar, Bentley, & Lambo jumping in you've eventually got to put your foot down and eat your lunch too

Bentley's goose was cooked when they could no longer stand on their own and had to be taken over by a German company or Die...LOL that ship has sailed

So in five years we can look forward to seeing who makes the best non-English English luxury truck that will be probably based on a car . . . ?
