Volvo Promises 7 New Models In Next 4 Years

Volvo Promises 7 New Models In Next 4 Years
When Volvo’s all-new XC90 7-passenger CUV goes on sale in the U.S. this summer, it kicks off a product offensive that will deliver seven more redesigned vehicles within the next four years.

The ’16 XC90, designed and built in Sweden after China’s Geely Automobile bought Volvo from Ford in 2010, represents only the second generation of the large CUV after its 2002 introduction.

Long overdue, the new XC90 arrives as large utility vehicles once again are currying favor with consumers eager to shop premium brands and showing little worry about the prospect of expensive gasoline, for the time being.

I just love reading about Volvo's future plans. They've stay true to their roots and their new design language is unique and it works. I don't see anything about a coupe or convertible in there though, that needs to be part of the plan too. Volvo has a history of good looking coupes.

I would easily take that XC90 over the new Q7, way to go Volvo

They don't really compete though... I'd say the XC90 probably competes more with the Highlander and Touareg

I'd like to see the new XC90 design features, filter down to the XC60 or other models. Why didn't they tweak the XC60 a little to look like their new design. I think it so COOL for Volvo. They had always built those square boxes. Now they have a really nice design on the XC90. I always loved the Swedes interior quality and soft seats. Kudos Volvo!!

Translation: Geelys with Volvo badges. The XC90 reviews so far are mixed and not entirely positive.

Has anyone in the press driven this yet? All I can find on it is comments from people sitting in it at the auto shows.

What Geely should have done was used Volvo to engineer Geelys to Toyota standards and repositioned Volvo as a volume brand rather than as a premium brand it never was and never will be.

Chinese cars are headed for the USA sooner or later and using the Volvo name, its engineering, and its styling language would have been more sensical.
