The GREAT Debate: What's The BEST Way To Get Out Of A Ticket? What Has Worked For YOU?
One of the worst feelings in the world has to be losing your wallet. It hasn't happened to me but I know damn well what it feels like when you have misplaced it and can't find it around the house. A close second to that is getting pulled over.

It feels like you're in high school detention all over again.

You're sitting around waiting for an authority figure to deal out the pain. It sucks, especially if you know what you did wrong.

Unfortunately, I've dealt with these situations to the extent where they don't bother me anymore — I am not proud of that. And I actually figured out how to get out of a ticket. Well, it used to work. These days they're so money hungry in New Jersey you'd need to be a priest in the collar to have a shot.

That said, what do YOU think is the BEST way to get out of a ticket? What has worked for YOU?

Ever gotten a speeding ticket? Ever wonder how to get out of it?

Short of being a pretty woman with an appealing demeanor, hire a lawyer. It's amazing what rabbit they can pull out of a hat at the last minute. Personal experience speaking.

okay, these are TRUE... i have 12-14 speeding tickets, and i've contested every. single. one. in court, and have gotten out'f all......... was even offered an internship at one courthouse!! (and yes... i'm hoping to start law school this fall!!!)....... first, know that while i do speed, i try to be a very good driver in every other aspect-- i always use turn signals, i ALWAYS allow proper stopping distance (that's a big one!!), and i've helped stranded drivers, and i've called into 911-- as recently as last week for accidents / drunk drivers, etc.......... a few of my favorites:

1.) had a court date about a week before Valentine's Day, one year... my gf lived out'f state and i was a "poor college student"... i was honest and blunt w/ the judge-- "whatever i have to spend on a fine is that much less that i can do for my girlfriend, who lives out of state..." i pulled out a photo of her, and the judge looked at it, and said, "i wanna see a receipt for a DOZEN ROSES!!"-- and so that was my fine... 'failure to prosecute' but bought the gf a dozen roses and that was my 'punishment'!!

2.) was pulled over between two lower Speed Limit signs-- in my state (all states?) you have to slow down to the posted lower MPH before the SECOND sign-- but cops routinely pull people over between them, and no one fights it... well, I fought it... I took a photo of where my car was, and where the officer's car was. after getting the ticket, i told the cop that i was exercising my right to contest it and was going to step out'f the car to take a photo....... i totally respect that they're jumpy when it comes to erratic behavior-- so i'm always polite and tell them what i'm doing... ie. "my i grab my registration and insurance? they're in the glove box." instead of just reaching for the glove box which they could misinterpret.

3.) a judge challenged me to "defend speeding-- in general." most never did, but as i'd had a lot of 'court experience' i decided to........ so i took him through a logical proof: "your honor, most speed limits were decided fifty years ago, right? wouldn't you agree that the cars and trucks that travel the roads these days have increased in passive and active safety? [then i listed out ABS, seatbelt pre-tensioners, better handling cars (so as to avoid accidents as opposed to just surviving accidents), etc...]... cops are able to drive 10+ mph faster than posted signs and routinely do, safely... ["but they've had training and special driving schools..."-- to which i responded w/ a list of driving schools i've attended, tracks i've raced at, and my bonafides...]... and then, "your honor, would you agree that the longer you're on the road the more chance you have of getting into an accident-- perhaps caused by something other than yourself, ie. other drivers, unforeseen circumstances, etc...? you would? well, if i could drive 10 mph faster than the speed limit, safely, then in my life wouldn't i shave off days, weeks, months, maybe even

Honesty and knowing my driving record to a "T" used to work for me.

In addition, pulling over in a "safe" zone, mentioning everything you're doing before doing it and keeping your hands on the steering wheel help. You're trying to build trust with the officer without kissing ass — that never works.

one thing works every time and i mean ive gotten pulled over literally dozens of times for speeding, they pull me over and ask do you know why i pulled you over ??? to which i reply " officer i have no excuse for what i did, i really fucked up, im so sorry "
that along with a clean driving record, they usually say " dont let me catch you again !! "
