Agent 001 Shows Off The Porsche Panamera S And e-Hybrid — Does This Luxury Sedan Still GOT IT?
You may not recall but last year Porsche gave its Panamera S model an all-new motor. Rather than use a V8, the company decided to use a six-cylinder and then boost its power via a twin-turbo setup.
For me, this sounded like a genius plan. Personally, out of all the Panamera variants I liked the standard Panamera equipped with a 300 horsepower six-cylinder best due to the smooth nature of the motor. The car felt at its best as the mill complemented the luxurious ride quality, although I will admit the engine needed an extra bump in power to make it feel like a proper Porsche. That's where the all-new mill comes in.

The funny thing is Porsche didn't really make noise about the powerplant swap. But this past week the company held an event to get more familiar with its six and e-Hybrid model in sunny San Diego. And Agent 001 was on the scene in his hometown.
As we've come to expect from the world's best guerilla automotive photographer, 001 spent quite a bit of time getting more familiar with the Panamera S and S e-Hybrid models. Of course he snapped plenty of shots for your benefit.
Though the Panamera is due for an all-new generation product to debut within the next 12-18 months, I have to ask:
does the Panamera still got it?

Man that is one ugly car. I'm curious about the price? I look at this and think Tesla P85

Cool - 001, the best of the bunch, in my opinion is the Panamera 4S Executive. Its a long-wheelbase, has a custom interior and in my opinion, the extra length really balances out the proportions visually. It really looks dynamite and the back seat is huge.
Did they have any of those at the premiere? In NYC, you see them only occasionally, but they are by far the best of the Panameras.

Looks like there weren't any there.
The exec cars are pretty snazzy.

I like the look, inside and out! I'm glad Porsche hasn't jumped on the "sharp creases and trapezoids" bandwagon.

Doesn't look like the next-gen Panamera will follow the trend either...

As ugly as many consider it, the Panamera has a real street presence. One glance and you know that this car means business. Of course being the first luxury sport plugin hybrid really scores points with me. Kudos to Porsche for embracing the technology, adding plugs and more serious propulsion batteries to their models.

Can't lose what you don't got... :)
Seriously, I agree about street presence but that still doesn't make it a stunning car like, say, the S Class coupe. I am looking to replace my winter beater and the S Class is front and center along with the Maser, with the Porsche some ways behind. (Plus wifey don't likey...)
It's unfortunate because I suspect it is by far the best driver's car. I haven't driven the MB yet but after tracking a Panamera GTS in Birmingham a couple of years ago, before they uprated it to 430 bhp, I can honestly say the ride impressed me.
Now if only the Porsche was my child...

If you're looking for a proper luxury sedan, the S-Class is uncontested. But, sporty it is not.

00R, you've driven the coupe? Do tell...
And yes, I prefer smaller and sportier, though it's difficult to go real small w/ 4 seats and all-wheel drive.

If you want the best sporty sedan, get a Lexus LS.
It is truly the most beautiful and the greatest sedan ever.
Japan always.
