I gotta be honest and say that I'm surprised that the new Camry is being so readily received. Maybe Toyota has upped their fleet sales, too, but the new Camry is not anything special. Every time I see a new one on the road, I question how anyone would purchase it, based on styling, above a Fusion, 6, Accord, or 200. It truly is indistinguishable from a Corolla now and it looks like it starts at about $15k.

The most important part of your post is the use of "I".

Yes, the pronoun "I" is used for first-person narrative. As that posted narrative was coming from me, and was reflective of my own opinion, the use of the pronoun "I" was appropriate. Next week, lessons on common sense.

ES and IS sales down? I don't get it, LEXUS is giving them away for $289 a month lease and they will even pay the first month for you.
The RX and the NX are killing it though! The RC is disappointing, they sold as many CTs as RCs. Maybe I can get a really good deal in an RCF in about a year:)

The RC is a much better looking car in the flesh.

Do you realize how hard it is for a company that sells 6-digit cars per month to grow double digit % wise? As for the new Camry selling well, why would one be surprised that it's selling well. Its predecessors (boring, ugly, poor handling, boat, etc.) were selling well for the last 3 decades so why wouldn't its current model sell well now? The market for such cars was always there and it's still around and they maybe overwhelming non-auto-enthusiasts but they're certainly overwhelmingly paying for their car of choice.

I don't disagree with your points. But it isn't about the existence of the market, it's about what's currently being offered in said market. Yes, the Camry and Accord have dominated a segment known for conservative styling with only-good driving experiences. But today's picture is much different than yesterday's.

In my own opinion (that was for 800over), almost every other car in the segment has taken that approach and elevated it, whereas I feel the new Camry has taken a step backwards and sideways (styling-wise). I think cars like the Mazda 6 which is gorgeously styled, drives impressively, has a great interior, and is nicely priced should be getting a much closer look by consumers. Mazda even finished 2nd in CR's brand ratings this year and I would venture a guess that most buyers in this segment refer to CR before doing test drives. But the 6 still sells only about 10% of what the Camry sells.

All good points cidflekken but I think there is a large segment of the population that don't go through many variables in considering their purchase. The analogy is McDonald, there are a number of restaurants that offer similarly priced food, better taste, quick service, etc. etc. but people just say "I'm going to get something at McDonald". Maybe all of your points will prove to be correct and more and more people decide to buy something else but it'll take some time to do it.
