Porsche missed the mark on this one. I can see the headlines already "911 meets station wagon".

Not quite as good as the artist renderings I've seen in magazines. Just looks like a stretched Cayman. i'll hold off judgement until the car is officially launched at an auto show.

the rear end looks horrid. I'm sure production version will look better, but I'm not a fan thus far. Disappointing.

Thats a joke!! the windows look like they were taken from the phaeton, and the back looks like a citreon C6

clever disguise, ferrari 612 heads and a gs rear and window line.
i don't think the boot will be that big, and the rear window line is a fake, you can see the real one if you lok closely, its about doorhandles' length further forward.
i'm sure it will look great.

First Lamborghini makes a Lamborghini that doesn’t have Lamborghini doors (what the hell is that about) then it was the Porsche SUV which ok I could understand chicks want a fancy car to take their kids to practice. But this I can’t understand. What are you going to do, throw your kids in the back and go out for track days? STICK TO RACE CARS.

Not looking so good at all. However, I am hoping that this has alot of cammo on it and the back is just disguised. The Maserati spy shots ususally have large rear ends too...lets pray

Have to agree with Will here. The front is 100% Porsche, but the side and rear profiles scream Lexus GS.

However, we must note that the car has camo-tape all over it, which is often used to disfigure the shape of cars like these in the testing stage.

It doesn't matter. We've all seen the drawings for months on this car and the real product is not going to come out looking anything like it. It won't be as sleek, or sporty. Yes, it will have some nice attributes to it, but I'm already turned off; camo-tape or not.

I agree, it does resemble a GS300 only uglier. Obviously we should all wait until the final version to past jugdement but the question was asked, what do you think so far? I think its closest competitor maybe the Quattroporte, which is incredibly sexy. I think Porsche as somewhat of a quandry trying to figure out how to incorporate the 911 nose into all of their products. I think its a mistake considering it doesn't work on the Cayenne and I've seen conceptual drawings of the Panamera that did not have the porsche nose and in my opinion it was much better looking.

okay let me see if i get this right cause im new to the spy world. (in cars not international espionage, ive been in the agency for years.) so a car company wants to test the ride and drive their car, and to keep car freaks like chewey from jumping their fences and taking snap shots, they purposely disfigure and coverup their car to trick people? this is crazy if im right on, and if not then please provide a better reason. and with all this comparison to the lexus gs, it must be a really ugly, and despised car to be on the same level as this beast.

Who cares what it looks like. All that matters is that is the ugliest porsche ever made.

Does anyone know where the Panamera will be positioned in Porsche's lineup? Will it be expensive like the Quattroporte ($100K) or in Cayenne S-range ($60K)?

Yes, EVERY single panel on the Panamera is covered by some sort of disguise, and has a 'false' rear hatch, so why such opinionated viewpoints?

Of course it will look great, Porsche learnt their lesson with Cayenne and the new 911 range looks fabulous.

Yes it does look like a 612 and Lexus/G35/M35/45 all over the side profile. The drawings were much more attractive. We sha'll see how this comes out. The spoiler looks out of place as well.

think of it as a merc cls rival. i dont think the pricing will be that different, think how cheap the 911 is compared to an sl.
coupe-sedans are the next big thing. everyone will chop in their suvs for one. IMO, of course.

Rupert, you have a point there. And they consider a 911 a Supercar too for the same price as an SL.

it is THE supercar for the masses.think how the 911 turbo competes with the 599 fiorano, while costing about half?

Rupert: true. It is the most affordable supercar. The SL is in a different category though. It's more on the luxury side but with more than enough power. The SL55 and SL65 are edging the luxury/supercar border though IMO but without the looks of a Lambo or a Ferrari. It's more civilized and understated. However, the SL is a great car it's still considered an exotic.

The Panamera will probably look awkward at first but grow on us all in the end. I can't speak much about the Cayenne though. Some trims are pretty nice but the base models are rubbish (look wise). As for it's practicality I much rather go get an X5, ML, FX, or an RX from Lexus (something for a daily commute)

Maybe even more so than the non-turbo Cayenne.
