RUMOR: Mercedes-Benz's TOP Decision-Maker HINTS At An All-New Mercedes-Maybach Variant — It's Not What YOU'd Expect...

The first model in a comeback range for Maybach is a saloon based on the S-Class, but Zetsche said plans were afoot to turn it into a proper sub-brand for luxury models in the same way that Mercedes launches performance models through AMG.

I'm all for it, I'd just wish they would at least design a different grille to exclusively represent the Maybach brand

Yeah, that's a difficult decision to make for the company from a branding as well as a design perspective.

I think they're aiming for customers who want to blend in rather than shout "look at me" like the Bentley/Rolls-Royce buyer that demands that presence on the road.

I'd agree to a certain point, but they already offer different grilles for sport/luxury models and the awesome effect that Vintage grille has on the AMG GT race car speaks for itself.

Plus I have a feeling the individuals shelling out an extra $50-$100k for a Maybach trim Merc would not mind having one more thing that differentiates their vehicle from the standard Merc...

After all, most ppl paying the premium for the Maybach Trim do it for that exclusivity and rights to say "My Merc is more special than yours"

This just makes sense. AMG for performance. Maybach for pure luxury. All under the strength and prestige of the Mercedes three-pointed star.

I wonder if Mercedes ever considered making a Maybach variant for every model, like they are doing with AMG variants. For example, a long-wheelbase C or E would be labeled the Maybach variant for markets like China. Highly unlikely, but just a thought.

I just thought I would point out that the price difference between a standard S600 and the Maybach is $23k not $50k-$100k.
