BMW Will Have The FIRST Car App For The All-New Apple Watch BUT What Will A Car App NEED For You To BUY The Apple Watch?
Yesterday marked a significant day in Apple history. That's because while the company announced the Apple Watch way back in September 2014, yesterday was the day when it was detailed, pricing was revealed and some folks even had the chance to play with it.

Considering it's an all-new product for the company that's reinvented computing, telephones and the tablet, consumers and investors alike are abuzz if it can reinvent the watch.

Leading up to the event a story was written and Apple CEO, Tim Cook, noted that the all-new Apple Watch would be capable of displacing the traditional car key. While no specific example was cited yesterday, we're assuming it would be thanks to an automaker-created application.

First to the game will be BMW with its i Remote application currently available for iPhones and Android devices. Conceived for the i3 and i8, it provides users with some status information on your ride: vehicle range, estimated charge time remaining, location of nearby charging stations, if the doors are locked, window, door and trunk position. In addition, users can control the vehicle to do the following: adjust climate control to cool and/or preheat the vehicle prior to entry, lock the doors, flash the lights, honk the horn and locate the car for you if you're lost.

This is all good and well, but what else would YOU want to see the Apple Watch do with an automobile that would make you say "I gotta have it!"

What would YOU tell the app developers as they rush to bring innovative solutions to the market with all-new vehicles?

...Already available for iPhones and Android products, i Remote allows drivers to monitor vehicle range, battery level, and estimated charge time remaining, while locating nearby charging stations if needed. Users can also check on vehicle status such as door lock, window, door, and trunk position.

It’s not all read-only though, because as the name suggests, i Remote can operate the car’s climate control system to preheat or cool to vehicle prior to arrival. It can lock the doors, flash the lights, honk the horn, and even locate the car for you if you lose your way as well. Best of all, it’s free...

I think you're kidding yourself if you don't see the significance of the original Macintosh that, yes, most people in technology agree changed the way people interacted with personal computers.

Which was a user interface that Xerox invented. And from my past (admittedly limited) experience, I much preferred Windows. And I'm going back to Windows 3.0.

No argument that a graphical user interface was a game changer. Just don't claim Apple created it. Improved, yes. I date back to command line use (and actually pre-computer :)), and having a usable GUI certainly changed the way people use computers.

I never said they created it; however, PARC didn't do a damn thing with it. If it wasn't for Apple it wouldn't have become the industry standard.
