DRIVEN + VIDEO: Are The Turbos In The All-New Mercedes-AMG DESTROYING Its Character?
One thing you will constantly hear about from automotive critics is how the thing they're searching for is "soul." It's something not quantifiable but apparently you know when it happens.

Sounds like love, really. Or, bullsh!t.

Now when I posted the first video review of the all-new Mercedes-AMG C63 S, the reviewer had the personality of a rock. Let's see how this one goes over. There's plenty of information in this one as it goes through some of the history and ins/outs of turbocharging.

The key in this clip is the reviewer's obsession with finding out if the all-new bi-turbo setup in the C63 S takes away from the last-gen car. Are the turbos destroying the all-new three-pointed AMG's character or soul?

More importantly though, this review details the all-new C63 S' driving experience as well as the car, overall.

Let's see if this one does the trick, Spies!

The C 63 is back but crucially this time with a smaller turbo-charged engine. How will it affect the performance and more importantly the sound of this car? We find out.

I thought their new, generic-Asian-car styling ruined Mercedes' character, but I was wrong. It's just a different character.

Seems like MB did a pretty good job of matching model to designated characteristic; i.e. the new C is getting positive comments for its reverting back to luxurious and stately characteristics (no longer a 3-wannabe) while its AMG cousin sure is impressing a lot of driving zealots out there and seems to differentiate itself quite clearly. We'll see in the next three years how they prove themselves in the market place.

I don't believe that the Autocar review posted a few days ago was the first C63S review we saw. Chris Harris' video review was posted about a week or so ago.

In either case, I don't think the turbos are taking away from the car at all.

You may be right! Feel free to correct the record!

Like it or not, turbos are here to stay. The 2 greatest negatives of turbos have been (1)lag, and (2)sound. Most manufacturers have done a decent job of minimising turbo lag, and thankfully, AMG have shown, that with effort and commitment, the sound can be converted from a negative to a huge positive! This is how a performance car should sound! Holy crap! This is sex! Frankly, I can't think of a reason now, to buy the M3 over this AMG machine. The fact that the interior is miles better than the M3, and the fuel economy is no worse than BMW's straight 6, is just magic!

The new C63 AMG moniker is misleading for it has now a 4.0 liter engine; oh watever...
