What Is Your PERSONAL Favorite Brand And Your FAVORITE Auto They Build Right NOW?

What Is Your PERSONAL Favorite Brand And Your FAVORITE Auto They Build Right NOW?
So, I feel like I've said this 1,000 times at this point, but I think it bears repeating. Although 2014 was a fairly rich year for automotive recalls, I still think that autos these days are better than ever. In fact, vehicles have gotten almost too good.

What do I mean by that?

Well, if you look at the landscape of products available, you'll note that a lot of them have become quite similar, particularly in the luxury space. The key differentiators that made car "X" a better buy over car "Y" doesn't really exist anymore. Most vehicles feature the same motors and drive very similar with some exceptions.

THINK: how many cars are on the market and feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine?

The answer is simple. A lot. And they all compete against each other.

These days, the things that differentiate automobiles are the more subjective things — e.g., styling, how the technology is operated (iDrive, COMAND, MMI) etc. What I am getting at is it's come down to how an in-market consumer connects with a vehicle.

What will make someone buy an all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class over, say, a BMW 3-Series is how much they like its looks, how simple COMAND is to use for them and if they appreciate the quality of its interior.

For example, without giving away too many of the Agent's secrets, when Agent 001 isn't driving he prefers a glass of Inglenook's Rubicon and is a lover of Bell & Ross' as well as Rolex timepieces. I, on the other hand, prefer a glass of Woodford Reserve neat and while I am a lover of my Bell & Ross BR02-92 Blue, I adore IWC's reference number 3714-46.

Now applying that thinking to autos, I wanted to ask: what is your PERSONAL favorite brand and what is your FAVORITE vehicle being built right NOW?

What brand do YOU connect with? What car is YOUR favorite?

Money no object: Bentley Continental GTC V8

According to my finances: Audi Q5 3.0 TDI (waiting for my order to arrive). I don't care for most Audi exteriors, except for the Q5 and R8.

For me personally, I have to go with Infiniti. They always have a vehicle to fit my needs. I drive a '13 M37S (now Q70 and Q70L), and I have owned 5 Infinitis over the last 15 years...always bought the latest model of whatever it was that was being released.

The thing I like about Infiniti is that they are high quality and extremely reliable. They are also luxury/performance oriented making them fun to drive. Most models come in either RWD or AWD configurations. In the Q70, you can opt for a 334 HP 6cyl, or 416 HP V-8. So, there are many choices available in these performance/luxury oriented vehicles. The future looks promising too with the newly redesigned Q60 Coupe coming out for 2016, and the recently revealed QX30 based on the Merc GLA platform.

I look at a lot of other vehicles, but none meet all the things I can get from Infiniti. Sure...as mentioned in this thread. there are many in this segment, but not all offer the balance of reliability/performance/configuration choices that fit my needs like Infiniti does.

My current favorite brand is probably Mercedes. As a Tier 1 brand, they have the most complete line of cars, from top to bottom. And those cars are extremely well-executed, with (mostly) AMG-performance models.

My favorite cars of theirs at the moment are the C63S, S63 Coupe, and AMG GTS.

This is a tough one for me. It used to be BMW until they went away from their philosophy of ultimate driving machine and went soft with the new 3. I guess I'd go with Porsche if we are driving the car or Benz/Jag if we are going off of looks.

Having had an E46 it used to be BMW. Now? Porsche and the Cayman as stripped and as hardcore as it can be had.

The ultimate? Aston Martin and its V12 Vantage with a proper six-speed.
