The Great TOP GEAR Saga Continues — Jeremy Clarkson's "Fracas" Likely To KILL The Remainder Of THIS Season

The Great TOP GEAR Saga Continues — Jeremy Clarkson's

The BBC is expected to scrap the remainder of the current Top Gear TV series after allegations that presenter Jeremy Clarkson punched a producer.

The broadcaster said Clarkson, 54, had been suspended after what it called a "fracas" and has confirmed Sunday's episode of Top Gear will not be shown.

It is understood the two final episodes in the series will also be dropped...

Gosh, Brian Williams repeated lied about getting shot at (shot down?) while in a battlefield in Iraq, accompanied by US Marines and all he got was a 6 month suspension (unless of course Lester Holt keeps doing an amazing job!).

I wish we held our celebrities in the US to the same standard that BCC is holding Mr. Clarkson to.

This says more about our poor US standards than anything about Jeremy Clarkson.

Look Jeremy Clarkson has done extremely well for himself, for Top Gear, and the BBC. The problem is that Clarkson and the BBC are no longer getting along. Further I think the Clarkson is simply getting tired of the whole thing. I agree that his punching out a producer over a late served meal is uncalled for, stupid, and reeks of being a spoiled bully. Perhaps in his mind this whole Top Gear thing has come to an end because this may be simply a result of he not wanting to take anymore of it from the BBC. Frankly even if BBC were to reinstate him and they sign another 3 year contract he is still going to be butting heads with the BBC. Further if he is of the opinion that "I'm Jeremy Clarkson, I'm famous, hurray for me and fuck you", that is really going to present a problem for the BBC. In that case they need to try and replace him or simply end the show.It will be sad but I thing they have reached an impasse.

The BBC is angering fans and they are getting this WRONG. Keep Clarkson. Give him what he wants. Fire anyone in his way.

Maybe the US version could catch on in the UK to replace the original :)

I got a good laugh out of that. What a terrible offshoot.

I'm here in London for the weekend, and went past the BBC building. Love this place.

Compared to the British version, the US version is simply second rate. it lacks the chemistry between the presenters in a way the British show does not. It's not at all funny or that interesting, frankly. But lets be realistic. Clarkson has been dong this show in it's current form since 1998. That is 17 years. They have done all kinds of things with it, exploding cars, racing a bobsled, shooting a car up like a rocket, racing a train, an airplane, a boat, and going to various countries. They've done it all and perhaps they have nothing left to show without repeating themselves. For Clarkson it's really is a no win situation between him and the BBC. Further he is clearly frustrated. So I thing they need to bring it to an end. But not this way. So here is my take on what should occur. The BBC should let or encourage Clarkson to save face and simply feign that he went after the producer because he had a severe "low blood sugar attack" after working 14 hours straight. He and the producer have made up and they are one big happy family again. The BBC does not sign them to 3 year contracts. Rather they re-sign them to a 1 year contract with a total of 5 shows. The last show becomes say a historical perspective with clips of some of their favorite shows. And then that ends Top Gear. At least the show goes out on a positive note.

Loving this idea, @mini22.

Let's face it, most programs can't go longer than 6-8 seasons. This show is tired.

And, each of the three presenters are very good at their jobs. Clarkson has worked on numerous programs that are fantastic. His war documentaries are stellar examples.

Hammond has presented other programs that are arguably more interesting and exciting.

And May is a brilliant presenter, especially on scientific programs. Really underutilized asset on Top Gear, IMHO.

Top Gear USA sucks. Every episode is nothing more than a single competition and is so fake. Take the school bus episode. First its an old chevy Van that they get, which they are supposedly supposed to modify, when it comes back its a 2000+ Chevy Express van cab bus. Also I have see parts of the show where they were filmed after mods and inserted into parts where the cars weren't modified yet. The one with the Aerostar van is a prime example. They don't have news, thhey don't have the stig taking cars around the track, they don't have starsin a reasonably priced car, there is no cool wall, no top gear production studio, Top Gear technology centers etc. When they did have the Stig, they just said take it away stig, no "some say" lines before, and the big star small carwas a lame name for their version of a star in a reasonably priced car. Unless they can get their chemistry better and follow Top Gear UK's formmat is will get old and lose appeal (which it already has). They need Jay Leno, Tim Allen and Maybe Adam Carolla.
