RUMOR: YOU Decide! Did Jeremy Clarkson Just Quit Top Gear? Is The Show Kaput, For Good?

RUMOR: YOU Decide! Did Jeremy Clarkson Just Quit Top Gear? Is The Show Kaput, For Good?
Well, folks. It may have just come down to this.

In the nearly week-long saga that's been known as the punch heard around the world, it seems that Jeremy Clarkson has essentially declared that it's all a wrap on his involvement in Top Gear and maybe even the show itself. How can I say this?

Clarkson contributes a weekly column to a British tabloid, The Sun. In his weekly column, which usually is a bit all over the place in true Clarksonian form, he uses metaphors consisting of dinosaurs to say that it's time to move on.

Some excerpts:

..."I THINK it’s fair to say that nature made a mistake when it invented the dinosaur. It was too big, too violent and with such small and puny arms it was never going to be able to operate heavy machinery or even enjoy a bit of special 'me' time..."

...“All the dinosaurs died and now, years later, no-one mourns their passing. These big, imposing creatures have no place in a world which has moved on...”

...“You can start as many campaigns as you like and call on the support of politicians from all sides, but the day must come when you have to wave goodbye to the big monsters, and move on...”

While it sounds rather dramatic, I think the writing is on the wall, boys and girls.

As noted in other threads though, I am sure this isn't the last we've seen of the Top Gear trio. They all are excellent presenters in a variety of different avenues and, frankly, there is more to life than just automobiles.

If this is indeed the end, I raise my glass to you Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. It's been a trip.

The BBC need to fire the guy Clarkson punched and then double Clarkson's pay.

Exclamation point goes here! These guys will shop their show to another network then POW their salaries double, or even better.

People will do anything for money...if you want to employ a self-absorbed, cry baby who physically assaults you when they don't get their way, well then, you get what you deserve.

As I suspected Jeremy Clarkson wanted out of Top Gear and its BBC stranglehold. He called the BBC to apologize and in fact set things in motion. He as well as James and Richard were weeks away from signing another 3 year contract. Jeremy has had enough of it. He has been doing the same thing for 17 years and needs to move on to something else. I would suspect it might still be about cars. However it might be something entirely different due to a passion he has. He has been unhappy with the BBC for a long time and they with him. It's going to be a big money losing hole. I don't think that Richard Hammond nor James May would do the show without Jeremy but I could be wrong. Saying all this I do not think that Jeremy will ever be as popular or successful with any other show as he was with Top Gear. Top Gear was world wide. Anything else he does will probably be local or Great Britain only. On the BBC side their option is to try to salvage the show with a replacement for Jeremy(perhaps something out of the 5th gear pool).

iTunes wrote me a love email saying the rest of the season is cancelled and they are refunding me $7.50 of the $29.99 I paid for it.

An end of an era.

Im pissed that we don't get to see the last episodes. The least they cold have done was finish the series and then cancel. Why should we, the viewer get screwed. Up yours BBC!

Leno would not work. This is a British show and needs a British personality that will mesh well with James and Richard. I also just read that the BBC may air the remaining season 22 shows. So the question is can Top Gear survive without Clarkson? I don't know. A replacement host would have to be very funny. Are James and Richard willing to do the show without Jeremy. Maybe they could just have a series of guest hosts while they find a permanent replacement for Jeremy. Top Gear has been a big money maker for the BBC. Why would they just want to abandon it due to one disgruntled host. I would think it would be in their interest to try and keep it going.

Having a guest host for the last episodes would be a great idea.
