It’s the rumor that never wants to die. Perhaps that’s because Jeep doesn’t want that to happen, and it’s just waiting for the right moment to strike. There’ve been plenty of rumors regarding the introduction of a new Jeep pickup truck, and CEO Mike Manley has gone on record saying he’s "a big fan of a Jeep pickup. I think we have history that says it belongs in our portfolio." And yet there’s still nothing. Why? "At this moment in time, I have higher priorities," Manley summarized.

Given the success of the Unlimited, another derivative seems like such a no brainier. How much could it cost to alter? One would think even slight incremental sales would be profitable. The only slight issue I see is in a world of crew cabs, an extended cab may not be too appealing to the masses.

I'd have to guess the frame would need a bit of beefing up to really be a seller. It looks cool though and the diesel in the grand Cherokee would be a nice motor.

Exactly, surprised it hasn't been done yet. The Wrangler is on fire at a time when a traditional SUV is practically extinct and it makes all the sense in the world that a pickup version would do well and would be the only midsize pickup to do well aside from the Tacoma and almost all the sales would be to consumers and not companies so these wouldn't be barebones "plain white" versions.
