SPIED: BMW Aims To Take On The Mercedes CLA-Class And Audi A3 With A 1-Series Sedan — NEW Spy Pics HERE!
Here we go! While Audi and Mercedes-Benz have brought to market entry-level luxury sedans, BMW has been left in the lurch. It doesn't currently offer a 1-Series sedan or 2-Series "Gran Coupe," or whatever BMW's Marketing department would theoretically call it.

Meanwhile, the CLA-Class and A3 are hitting their respective targets when it comes to moving units off showroom floors. In fact, in the New York Tri-State region it's pretty hard to go anywhere without seeing one.

So, even though the 2-Series has received much critical acclaim and is considered "the driver's car" out of the lot, what's the Bavarians to do? Join them, of course!

Spotted for the first time since September, is the all-new 1-Series sedan. We figured BMW wouldn't ship us the 1-Series hatch found abroad, so, in order to better appeal to the North American market's taste, it is creating a sedan variant.

From the spy pics we're seeing, there is zero heavy cladding and, frankly, it looks like it should see a product debut at a major auto show before the end of 2015. Frankfurt bound, perhaps?

The 2 Series like the 1 Series before it is a very compromised vehicle and that is why it does not litter the road like the CLA and the A3. The 2 series is cramped and a 3 Series is every bit as good and more livable for the same price.

The FWD 1 Series cannot come quickly enough. I predict it will be a major player.

The 2er wins in driving dynamics, but you right coupe vs. sedan, sedan always wing the sale race.

Unfortunately for the price there are other coupes out there that trounce the 2er

I am not sure why BMW troubles themselves with camouflage. We all know it will just look like a smaller 5-4-3-2...ONE!!!! Just find a photo of any of these other models and reduce the zoom level accordingly.

Appears to have a profile similar to the fourth gen Jetta. Still very BMW-like, but a bit dowdy looking. Those huge headlamp assemblies look awkward.

I'd buy a Jetta GLI long before an A3 or CLA.
