#NYIAS: SKETCHED OUT! Kia Unveils The All-New Optima, Gets Our Expectations Running HIGH
If you've been following AutoSpies for the past five or so years, you already know by now how we feel about Hyundai and Kia. It's been a tremendous story of a company that turned its operation around and, finally, started producing products that ate away market share from the likes of the big guns at Honda, Toyota and Nissan.

We tip our hats to you, Hyundai and Kia!

But now that it's seen success with the likes of the Sonata, Optima, Elantra, what's up next? What's the encore? Auto companies need more than one generation of product success.

While the Sonata was given an all-new update for the 2015 model year, the Optima still sporting the older chassis and skin. That's where the 2015 New York Auto Show comes into play. This is where Kia will be unveiling the all-new Optima.

Though I am sure a lot of you out there are saying "so what?" the reality is that Kia has been producing some gorgeous products as of late and we don't expect it to change course. The Optima has the potential to be the best looking sedan under $25,000.

And given the company's warranty and packaging, it very well has the chance to be the most competitive offering on the market.

All that said, Kia has released a couple of sketches depicting the all-new Optima. Obviously sketches do exaggerate certain elements, but if this looks like we're expecting, its competition may have trouble on their hands.

Kia's press release follows:

Following its 2010 debut at the New York International Auto Show, the Optima became a catalyst for Kia Motors' tremendous growth and has been the brand's best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for three years running. Now, five years later, Kia will return to New York on Wednesday, April 1, for the world debut of the passionately designed and obsessively crafted all-new version of its popular midsize sedan.

dumb it down for production and it will look just like the current car

Change the front a bit and this is what the Jaguar XE should have been. Not digging the D pillar that much, but otherwise it is an attractive sketch.

The current design is still a looker (updated taillights notwithstanding). This sketch looks like a nice evolution of the current model and that's not a bad thing. I hope they decide to offer it in AWD.

It needs to be an evolution of the current one because the current one sells quite well, especially fully optioned. It needs to be a swanky update. The Cadenza needs a total reskinning because compared to the Optima it looks so yesterday.

The first thing that jumped into my head was the Camaro but I'm sure the actual car will look nothing like this (it will look like someone else's car, this I'm sure of).
It might have bigger side vents, foglights and more LED lights though since that's what cutting edge design is all about these days.

Ignoring the concept Sportspace design..something that isn't a sketch. So yeah it will look like this.

"(it will look like someone else's car, this I'm sure of)"

Someeone else's cars: Avalon, Altima, Infinti M, Chrysler 300, Ford Fusion, Sentra, Lincoln MKZ, Dodge Dart Buick Velero hint Audi A7's greenhouses.

Should I go on and bring up 15 cars with Audi grilles including the Suzuki Kizashi or Lancer EVO or even the Chevy Sonic?

Should I bring up the 2016 Pilot's greenhouse vs. Traverse's?

Someone else's cars huh? Side profies: Rav-4, Escape, Campass, Pontiac Vibe, 2006 Mazda 6, 2006 Kia cee'd, hint side profiles.

Let me know if I should go on and bring up the Chrysler Delta ripping off 1st generation Murano.

Do go on.

Everyone else is allowed to copy because everyone else has come up with something unique of their own. What has anyone ever copied off a Korean car?

Hell, Korea's designers aren't even Korean. WTF is up with that? 60 million people and not 1 person knows how to think up something original. Wait, this is the country that gave us Samsung, k-pop, Hyundai and a pile of other me-too companies and industries that can only survive with gov't protection.

Hell, even their videogames aren't original. The Japs think of new ideas, the Koreans have white people and elves. The Galaxy S6 phone lookes like an iPhone with a rectangle home button.

Shall I go on?

SUVs with Slanted C pillars: Equinox, 4Runner, RX, MDX, Venza, Linolcn MKC, yet only the Veracruz and Sorento would be the "someone elses cars" because they are Korean allowing the Saab CUV, Honda Passport, and Rodeo to get away with it.

Porsche Cayenne coupe and Honda HR-V hint side profiles= someone else's cars.

If it was a Hyundai Cayenne that's what would have been said.
