#NYIAS: RUMOR — Is The All-New Lincoln Continental That We've Been WAITING For FINALLY Set To Appear?
If there's one luxury automaker that's befuddled us, it's been Ford's Lincoln division. The company has made some really fine automobiles in its day, however, as of the past 10 or so years it really hasn't differentiated itself from its Ford siblings.

And that's a shame. We know the company can do better.

I think the big question that's been lingering is when will the company finally make the changes it needs. Well, that day may have finally come. That's because it looks like the 2015 New York Auto Show (NYIAS) may be the spot where the company unveils the all-new Continental.

If this dream does, in fact, come true it will likely be in concept form. Not only would Lincoln have to take the market's temperature before revealing an all-new vehicle, it also needs to see if its design can be tolerated.

If you ask me, the new MKC and MKX seem to be pretty decent looking compared to what else it has put out in recent years, but in this super competitive market the all-new Continental cannot just be satisfactory. It has to blow people's minds.

According to a Ford forum, some of the members did some handy dandy detective work and discovered an internal development site and even pulled the code. It clearly states that a 2017 Lincoln Continental is on the way.

Until we get official word though, who knows. In the auto industry, nothing is ever certain unless the fat lady sings.

If this illustration is any indication of the design direction, then I would ask, who is waiting for that? Suicide doors aside, (and also illegal), this retro design is beyond boring. Even the original design is more exciting then this one.

Right, because this is a 2002 concept.

2004 Camry and 2016 Lincoln Continental hint side profiles. Yet the 2010 Forte's side was accused of copying allowing the Pontaic G6's side to get away with it.

Opps forgot to add the 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante side profile into the category. Silly me.

I have not given up on Lincoln only because I have seen some of the recent products coming from Ford. Bring us an original great design Lincoln and market it towards a buyer that wants what you can build.

When Ford was purging its premium vehicles (Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Volvo) the internal plan was to kill Lincoln and revitalize Mercury. Instead they killed Mercury and gave Lincoln the new Mercurys.

Doing an RWD vehicle is exactly what Lincoln needs. It also need to go to NAMES and stop the alphabet soup idiocy.
