#NYIAS: Lexus Has A Show Stopper With The 2016 RX - Does The Interior Continue With The Seduction?

No doubt Lexus sent a warning shot across the bow of the competition with the 2016 RX.  The exterior is crisp clean and upscale something not many of the current competitors can claim. Now that they have that part of the equation knocked out the have to close the deal with  knockout interior as well.

Get up close and personal with the new RX interior and size it up in your mind.  Did they make an evolutionary or a revolutionary move befitting of the exterior?  Can this interior seal the deal for the younger affluent buyer over the Germans?

What would you do to make it better or is it perfect as it is?

I don't doubt the quality is high, but the overall look is uninspiring. The design language still seems stuck on older Toyota Corolla and Camrys.

I like the layout and the look look a lot but the center console look terrible. Looks completely unattached, cheap, and something that people would yank out and replace with a best buy radio system

Sorry, this looks awful. It would look awful in a RAV4. So, so, much going on. And that center are with the climate controls is similar to the same area in the IS where it looks dated and cheap.

What's up with that after thought gaudy, gigantic navigation screen that totally looks out of place and doesn't flow any of the dash's elements? That pin stripping on the center console is another eye sore that's trying to be different in a bad horrible way and really belongs more on a old wooden boat.

I seriously keep looking at this and thinking, "where the hell did the inspiration for THIS come from"? As I said above, so much going on. Lines everywhere. Sections overlapping other sections. Surfaces going here, there, up, down, with no coherence. If I owned this car, I'd get frustrated just looking at this on a daily basis.

The interior is irrelevant. It´s not like owning an RX means you have taste... it simply means you need a harmless pseudo-luxo box for light around-the-city transportation. So it won´t have an impact....

Very nice interior. The only thing I would lose is the bright red stitching.
