#NYIAS: If You Really Want To BOOST Your SWAG, You'll Need To Give An ARM And A LEG For The 2016 Mercedes-AMG G65
One automobile that has survived the test of time, unbelievably so, is the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon. Since it was originally conceived way back when, it's been doing some serious off-duty work and kicking ass.

Hell, I still remember before MBUSA decided to start officially importing them that a couple of independent dealers were bringing them to the U.S. for some SERIOUS prices. If I am not mistaken though, it seems like the G's days are numbered and it won't be around much longer.

I mean, really. Think about it. Not only did AMG go crazy with the 6x6 variant AND 4x4 variants, now we're seeing a G65 with a forced induction V12 good for over 620 horsepower and nearly 740 lb.-ft. of twist. This may just be the G's swan song.

If you want in on what is likely to be one of the last G-Wagons, get ready to pony up about $218,000. We're sure it can climb much higher than that depending on your specs.

Mercedes-Benz USA announced pricing today for the ultra-exclusive 2016 Mercedes-AMG G65. Starting at an MSRP of USD $217,900, this model joins the G550 and G63 AMG in the U.S. lineup in November 2015. Some time ago, when Volvo moved away from their boxy car designs, they ran an ad campaign whose slogan was "we threw away the box and kept the toy." Now we know who kept the box. I deeply question Mercedes' design sense with something this boxy.

Lies! to the comments above, this thing is around FOUR DECADES old and still manages to stop the show every parking lot, car wash, or road it turns on paved or unpaved.

Sales wise the G continues to grow. Design Wise...after looking at all these wanna be coupe/station wagon/mini van SUV's crowd roadways, it's refreshing to see something as unapologetic, bold, and in your face as the G Class.

According to TheSteve, Benz kept the box that Volvo threw away...well looks like Benz also kept their Balls too! Carry on G Class!

Totally agree.

And seeing how much the G-wagen has endured, it's disappointing that other big "boxy" SUVs didn't stick around long enough to see some renewed interest. i.e. Jeep Commander... OK, initially it was a departure from the Grd Cherokee formula but it was brash, aggressive, capable, powerful, & boxy. Had Chrysler/Jeep continued to refine the Commander, it could have easily rode on the coat-tails of the G & had a lot of interest today. Jeeps could have enjoyed huge profits from big boxy, luxury editions of Commander RTs & SRTs.

Looks like a coffin on wheels...and for 6 figures, whoever owns it should be buried in it.

I understand everyone has different tastes but to call a G class ugly is just wrong. Are all trucks/jeeps ugly? Is a wrangler ugly?

Ugly should be reserved for Pontiac Aztek , Nissan Juke, Kia Soul, etc

No one is saying all trucks/Jeeps are ugly...who said that? This is ugly...big-ass box, with coffin interior...or Elvis in Vegas interior...bleh!

Did you read the boxy design comments?
Who the hell cares about Elvis interior? It's not like they all come with this "orange" interior.

This thing may not be pretty but it has a rugged look that is beloved around the world. AMG sells every one they make and I have no doubt this new V12 version will continue that success. The profit margins on these must be ridiculous!

I'm thinking M-B/M-AMG has clearly ignored all the "boxy" review/complaints...especially since the G-wagen is even more popular & opulent. So what's the point of complaining every time you see the G? We're not going to ever see a radical change in the vehicle's aerodynamics anytime soon. This iconic niche ain't going nowhere.
