#NYIAS: Jaguar Unleashes The All-New XF On The Buying Public — Does The Leaping Cat Still Have It?
In the past month or so, Jaguar has been massively hyping its all-new sedan, the XF. We weren't sure what to expect, if we're honest.
But when the clothes came off and we saw what was largely an evolution, I am not so sure we were impressed. This move shows us that Jaguar is pretty content with its sales and is not willing to shake things up. It's "safe."

Jaguar XF
HERE!
While the exterior is not anything to get worked up over, I will say the interior is notably changed. The most important and critical fixes are found in the instrument panel and all-new infotainment system. More on this in a later thread.
You will note that like the all-new XE, Jaguar has decided to keep its interior quite subdued in the XF. Personally, we would have like to see at least one more interior option with something more vibrant than the sea of black but we'll work with what we've got.
All that said,
what's YOUR first impression of the all-new Jaguar XF?

Interesting that a few posts down you say that "if looks could kill then call us dead" but with this the question is does Jag still have it??? Besides some serious bias maybe an eye check is in order. The car with the most weird lines going every which direction does not make the better design. I will concede this Jag is not breaking new ground but it is a nice looking cohesive design both in and out. Just one area as an example. Check out the front fender area of the Nissan Maxima and the Jaguar and decide which designer has the better eye for a cohesive design. In any case I like the Jaguar but wish they had pushed themselves to be a bit more adventurous and sexy with the design. Exterior a B, interior A.

Each of the Agents are allowed to have different opinions. I know I didn't mention anything about this vehicle's looks yet. If I am NOT mistaken, you're referring to 009's story about the Maxima...

While it is tasteful, this is a bland, stand-still design. Jaguar needed something more captivating to reverse its terrible US sales of 17K units for model year 2014. Mercedes does that volume in a little over two weeks.
Jaguar needs to dramatically lower prices to buy customers. They also need to pay much more attention to reliability. My advice: if you must have a Jaguar, lease it but don't buy it. Jaguar has too many lemons in its grove.

Over the last 2 or so years the JLR group reliability has been improving quite a bit. Hope they are able to keep on track with that given all the new model releases.

80% of the interior looks like a rental-car from GM (in design, not materials since I can't really tell the material quality). Exterior is way too evolutionary for 99% of people to notice. Don't get me wrong, it's always been a pleasant design, but it's always been a bit conservative.

BUT, I will say that it's a HUGE relief to look at this Jag after being subjected to that overwrought mess called the Maxima.

After sitting inside and spending time with it, I will say it's interior is, well, a mix of nice and awful.
The best elements are the instrument panel and infotainment screen.

I don't like how the dash appears to sink below the base of the windshield. It's odd in the XJ and here.

Jaguar's exterior designs are always sexy, but their interiors have been a letdown IMHO; The steering wheel is horrendous, and the dashboard looks too plane and simple for a premium automobile.

The current XF looks better to me. I am let down by the interior too. As a redesign I give it a C. Not great but not horrible.

Dashboard and front door panels are seriously lacking, which is sad because Jag had a chance here.
