Kia Admits GT Concept Is VERY Close To Production - Who Should Worry?

Kia GT - you do remember it, right? - is getting closer to production after South-Korean officials admitted that work is currently underway, and a statement will be made soon enough.

We don't usually build GTs, but when we plan on doing so, we make sure it involves a soap opera that stretches for a couple of years. No, that's not an official statement, although it pretty much sounds like an honest version from Kia Motors.

After showing the GT concept in 2011, Kia started weaving a net of rumors and announcements that claimed the bold four-door concept was confirmed for production and will arrive sometime around 2016. In addition, we also saw two additional concepts from Kia, namely the GT4 Stinger and the freshly revealed Novo Fastback.

If it's a 2-door coupe, the Genesis coupe might be the only car in its crosshairs, sibling rivalry.

If it's a 2+2 and has enough power, the Civic coupe, Focus ST and WRX are at risk. By the way, this car LOOKS GREAT.

Kia GT will most likely be a lot more cheaper and a lot more fun to drive than Ford GT.

Everything in its price range with two doors is in danger of losing sales (if it handles well and has enough power) to this if you ask me. I can't think of anything under that price point that even looks remotely as good.

I'm sure KIA has already put the 918 Spyder and Continental GT on notice.

The Koreans must be rubbing off on Mr. Audi has-been, this design looks like crap for an R8 xerox.

Speaking of Mitsubishi time to expose what their "original" cars looks like for blind Hughjazz. Let's expose them alllll to the kitchen table. Ford Escape and Rave 4 hint side profiles. I'll chew them all up.

You won't bring this up because it's not Korean . So I will: Mazda CX3, 2016 Nissan Murano and Citron Air cross Concept hint C invisible C pillars. If the Sorento had C pillars like that it would have been the copycat. Nice CUVS by the way just proven how others copy too. Only a matter of time the 2016 MDX will copy the new RX.

Does that mean you don't like it? Consumers with less than $30K in their pocket need a cool car too. This car fits that bill perfectly.

It reminds me a SAAB concept from a few years back. Not bad if they price it below the 86/BRZ/FRS
