Automobile Magazine Comparison Test: 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 vs. 2015 BMW M3 - The Mercedes Wins!
Don't let the spec sheets fool you—these rival high-performance sedans could hardly be more different. And they don’t like each other.

To say the 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan happens to perform similarly to the BMW M3 is like saying Russian troops happen to be vacationing in Crimea. Mercedes-AMG’s latest effort targets BMW’s venerable supersedan with all the focus and intent of a laser-guided missile.

Look at the numbers: 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds for the BMW M3, 4.0 seconds for the Mercedes-AMG C63 (3.9 seconds for the more powerful C63 S). Top speed is governed at 155 mph for both the BMW and the Mercedes (option packages for both remove the governors). Also, Mercedes barely beats BMW in fuel economy, hitting 29 mpg combined on the European cycle versus 28 mpg for the M3. (EPA ratings for the C63 have not yet been announced.) The Mercedes will start at $64,825 in the States, $1,875 more than the BMW.

Amazing , Bigger engine and still more efficient than the M3 engine...This is going to be a battle of loyalty. because that's the only reason to buy an M3 that I see...

True, but for apples to apples you would have include the same slush box in the BMW which then makes them the same price.

M3 is the only option for stickshift; otherwise, MB interior far surpasses whatever BMW has on offer.

Love how you spoil the results of the comparison in the headline. Empire Strikes Back is out - Darth Vader is Luke's father!

The M3 wins in the looks dept over the Benz imo but the Benz has a nicer interior... I would happily drive either, though the BMWs free maintenance gets the value nod in my book since pricing is so close.

the benz has a much nicer interior, but exterior is a toss up. the benz looks more like a luxury car and m3 more like the sports car. the free maintenance i think is a big advantage and so is the option of a manual transmission. i personally like the m3 more, but the benz is still right there as a highly desirable car.

I thought Car Magazine did the comparison tests.
