Buick Says It Has No Plans To Place Avenir Concept Into Production - Are They Missing The Boat?

If the latest reports with the Buick Avenir which were announcing a production version of the model have gotten your hopes up, we’re here to disappoint you because the North American based automaker has no plans of putting such a model into production. The announcement has been made by a representative within the company who was contacted by the inautonews.com team in order to find out more about the so-called production version of the Avenir.

“The Avenir is a concept car and we have not announced any plans for production”, said the Buick official.

GM's Product Chief says otherwise: http://www.autoblog.com/2015/04/15/buick-avenir-cadillac-ct6-rear-drive-sedan/

"No plans" and "have not announced plans" are two very different things.

Most likely it will never make it into production since the car is too ugly.

Not to mention it is a Buick.

As this car would seriously be aimed at China I think it would take the market by the throat there. They LOVE Buicks and this would be huge in China. They might be waiting for Cadillac to take a stronger position there before they do this, but waiting means not selling cars they could sell....

IN a prior message - I already mentioned that GM would not produce the Avenir - while Ford WOULD produce the Continental so I am not surprised

DeNysschen Disease (I was going to copyright the term - but I won't - go ahead and use it freely) has badly infected the management level at GM - and this car would seriously make a dent in Cadillac Sales - so it really never had a chance.

The problem is that the Avenir would appeal to the Old GM Large Luxury Car buyer - something that DeNysschen has already said that they no longer desire - and will leave behind. And Obviously - they cannot have Buick with a Large Luxury Car that single handedly outsells most of the Cadillac fleet as well! SO - the problem is that the Buick WOULD BE SUCCESSFUL - and they cannot have that happen !!??

Should have kept Bob Lutz and given him the Cadillac division.

Why would anyone buy a CT6 if this was available?

GM has a HORRIBLE record of doing gorgeous concepts like the Ciel and Elmiraj that people salivate over and then they produce a lackluster version (CT6) for sale. The Avenir is gorgeous and the next Lacrosse will be a bland nothing....just watch.

American automakers have to overcome decades of building inferior automobiles. It will take the dying off of the generations of us who have experienced their worst, and because of this, turned away from them. At nearly age 60, I have never outright purchased an American brand of auto in my life.

Considering your driving days began at the end of the muscle car era and the beginning of the gas crisis... you didn't get the greatest situation. You missed on some great investment opportunities though. You could have picked up some GTO's, hemi cuda's, and Shelby mustangs for a couple thousand and be sitting on several million now. Those VW beetles were fun though. Dangerous but fun.

I am terribly disappointed. This car would have stopped traffic.
In the meantime Buick is into a silly campaign to convince people that their dealerships are better than a five-star spa! Where the heck are their priorities?

Buick, build it! It's the best design you have done in a long, long time.
