Saudi Prince Offers 100 Bentleys To Military Pilots After Terrorist Strike

Earlier this week Saudi Arabia announced the end of the first phase of its military campaign in Yemen. And in a celebratory gesture Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, one of the country's richest men and a member of the Saudi royal family, tweeted to his 3m followers on Twitter: "In appreciation of their role in this operation, I'm honoured to offer 100 Bentley cars to the 100 Saudi [fighter] pilots".

The offer immediately split opinion. More than 28,000 people shared his post and over 5,000 liked it. The prince was hailed for his "generosity" and several Saudis commented that the pilots deserved luxury automobiles - and much more - for their military service.

Summary: One of the richest countries in the world is bombing one of the poorest. Hospitals and homes hit badly. Civilian casualties mount. Uber-wealthy prince rewards the pilots who did the bombing with uber-rich bling, Bentley cars. Poor people, and others via social media, think the bombings are not only a bad thing, but the rich prince is out of line for lavishly rewarding the offender in this very, very lopsided "battle".

You get to decide which side you'll take. Usually, that's on-side with the rich folks who have the resources we want, like oil in this example. Don't want to offend our good friends in the Middle East.

One of the poorest countries with one of the highest saw-your-head-off terrorist counts... not feeling so bad for them now?

Yup! There are some nasty people in Yemen. Do you feel leveling the country and all in it is the right thing to do? That could be likened to hating ALL Americans, wherever they may be, and declaring Jihad on them all because some components of the US government have covert, dirty dealings against some foreign countries' governments. Would those haters of Americans also be in the right?

I might be a bit crazy on this issue, but when I see nast individuals, I don't paint all the people in their country with the same brush, just like I don't blame all American citizens for what various parts of American government do. But that's just the way I do things.
