2007 BMW 328i/335i sedans

It might even be possible that the 335i sedan is faster than the 335i coupe. This would be due to better weight distribution (almost a perfect 50/50).

The coupe has been tested at 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. bmwusa.com officially states 0-60 in 5.3 for the 335i coupe with a manual.

The sedan could theoretically also do 0-60 iin 4.9 seconds. bmwusa.com officially states the 0-60 as 5.4 for the 335i sedan with manual.

Can you say best in-class acceleration, best in class handling and overall driving dynamics. BMW sure can.

Most dealers should now have demos to drive (we have had both our 328 and 335 for about 2 weeks). I do orders are being taken, but count on everything that is coming in to be presold for at least a while. BMW won't be ramping up too much production on these until probably closer to end of october.

you think anyone will do a 2000 s4 vs. 335i comparo? I think that'd be cool, actually, i think a chipped 2000 s4 vs. a 335i would be best.

Competition makes it necessary for companies to improve their products, otherwise this engine is coming out pretty quickly. Lexus and Infiniti definitely had a hand, no matter how much you want to deny it.

Now I have to go pretty quickly to see this thing and drive it :).

Now BMW will win based on raw performance as well and not just the "magic feel."

Not true at all. Mercedes was the first company (1886 Daimler-Benz), but BMW was pretty far behind (1913). Horch, the precursor to Audi, debuted in 1899. Even Audi came out before BMW made an automobile engine, in 1910.

This is the best 3 series ever produced up to date. BMW imitators are now just scrambling to play catch up. Who can be more BMW than a BMW.

There's a horsepower war goin on right now and the auto industry is moving very fast. New car's seem to be coming out every few months now...hence the reason why BMW had to up the ante.

They were doing great with the hp offered in their other models but one...the 3-series. That's not a problem anymore though, as we all know.

With the introduction of the 335i, you Lexus guys don't have much to boast about with the IS350.

Then why did they build it if the 330i was already "the best in its class?"

My bet is that they went to work on it as soon as they discovered that the IS350 has a 306hp V6.

The development of such an engine takes YEARS.Proof enough that BMW "didn't react" as you Lexus folks like to claim.

...and therein lies the fault of most auto journalists. Nothing will ever be a BMW, so why do they keep comparing everything to it. The C class doesn't want to be a BMW. Lexus doesn't want to be BMW (hence 2 models for 2 types of buyers).

Adding the turbos doesn't close the issue. You need to test the engine over many miles. The turbos have to be tested and checked for problems and how those problems can be eliminated. Simply slapping on some turbos is not how BMW works. Like every manufacturer, they TEST it first.

Audi quattro coupe Sport. That car pioneered AWD technology in passenger cars, and dominated every rally it ever entered. If it weren't for the quattro, BMW wouldn't have xDrive, Mercedes wouldn't have 4Matic, and most importantly, Audi wouldn't have quattro!

My brother actually has a 2001 B5 S4 Stage II with about 330hp. That car is a monster!

I drive these cars for a living, and the 335i does out-accel the IS350.
The IS350 is a good car, but it just can't keep up with a 335i (or a 330i) through a corner there is to much understeer built into it. The "magic feel" is not a myth, drive any german built car, they all have a sense for the road. The ultimate example is a Porsche 997.

By the way I drive between 6k to 8k miles a month in everything from lexus to Porsche, and my daily is a 06 E90 330ia.

My employees feel the same way, out of 20 people ages from 21-68 all but one wants or owns a BMW, the one a lexus.

Lexus and the customers who buy/lease them are making a smart choice. Quality product, great sales experiance and most important Lexus has the BEST service of any Dealer/OEM in the U.S.
