Report Reveals BMW Is Preparing First Ever M7 To Meet Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG, Audi S8, And Jaguar XJR Threat

BMW’s known to have a pretty solid position on the idea of an M7, despite the fact that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG, Audi S8, and the Jaguar XJR all exist to create a rather unique niche market.

The reason being is that a large, fast land yacht sort of conflicts with the ideology of BMW’s sporty and performance reputation–though this may be a bit of stretch since a lot of their cars currently are fast land yachts, many of which lost their traditional BMW charm.

But for those reasons, rumors of BMW changing their mind have been beginning to surface given that there does exist a market for high-end, large bodied, luxury performance sleds.

Further bolstering the possibility of a BMW M7 is AutoBild, who reports more details surfaced from some BMW “insiders.”

The Jaguar is so NOT a threat. They can't give that Merkur Scorpio away.

7 is not a threat for S in standard or M form....Mercedes will continue outselling the 7s...specially the next generation which looks boring...

IN a market that is a small as this one - one would think that it makes no justifiable economic sense to produce a car that would sell in such miniscule numbers to begin with - unless they price it in the Bentley range.

BMW doesn't care about justifiable economic sense when creating new models it seems. I'm very interested to hear the rationale they used to justify the 4-Series Gran Coupe, X4, 3-series Gran Turismo and 5-Series Gran Turismo.

I smell a Cadillac CT6-V cooking up as a competitor. It's already been speculated...:)

Clearly BMW is wanting to punch the envelope to aspire to higher prestige and pricing levels, as Mercedes is doing with everything they make. Thing is ascending for the prestige is one thing, attaining buyers is another... this will probably be their smallest seller but a very significant margin.

To me Bimmers end at 5, maybe 6. So whatever they do to the 7 is pointless. Just my two cents.
