CAR WARS! Sibling Rivalry — How Does The All-New Mercedes-Maybach S600 Compare To The Maybach 57S?
When it comes to the Mercedes-Maybach S600, it has pretty big shoes to fill. OK, it has REALLY big shoes to fill. Although the original Maybach reboot didn't exactly sell in the numbers the three-pointed star had hoped for, there's one thing most people can agree on.

The car was special.

While the Maybach 57S may have been based on a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, it was a properly bespoke machine that felt other worldly.

Now with Mercedes positioning Maybach as a sub-brand, some have questioned if the sedan's lost its special sauce. There's only one real way to find out how the all-new car compares against the old.

Our Russian friends at DragTimes put both of them to the test back-to-back to figure out just what differentiates both cars from each other.

Have a closer look via the clip below.

This is a very accurate analysis of the differences between the original Maybach and the new Mercedes Maybach. Different market, different car, new one will be much more successful from a sales standpoint.

I wonder why they decided not to use the "vertical" Maybach grill and "double M" hood ornament and badging.

I'm sure Merecedes had lots of meetings and focus groups on this topic, but I wouldn't be surprised is a cottage industry amongst rappers doesn't open up, where the owner can "delete" the Mercedes grill and badges and replace them with "Maybach" stuff - at least on the outside.

It only just became available, but I've seen two in my Central Park West neighborhood already - from people who used to have S550's. Mercedes is going to sell a ton of these. They should definitely sell a 4-Matic version though.

Great video. I love the last few seconds about on the 0 to 280 Kms/h with the classic music in the background.
