Audi World Readers Spy the Audi R8 Twice

Audi World Readers Spy the Audi R8 Twice
While there isn't much new information or anything, we haven't seen before it is still an interesting read. Two Audi World members caught two different Audi R8s doing testing in Arizona. While once again there are no interior pictures, the gearshift on the R8 is similar to the one in the Gallardo. AutoSpies members should be on look out in Arizona, and if you see the R8 go for the interior.

A cheaper Gallardo-based Audi just does not sound appealing to me. And Im an Audi fan.

Silver looks pretty good from here. It's about as close as I'll get to one, until the neighbor has one up on blocks on his lawn in 2045.

I guess people have never heard of camo. Here is a CGI of how it will look.

You think Audi would put those rims on the R8, when it's on a mule? Those are Gallardo rims, by the way, and the R8 will get a brand-new wheel that's never been seen before.

Also, that red light strip is just tape. The car will have two seperate lights. Audi wouldn't make something that ugly!

Oh, I see, you were talking about the TT rims. They're not old (they debuted on the NEW TT), and they won't be going on this car.

The charm the charge....for the new Audi R8,is going with the camo.

Two tone colour is looking rubbish on it.This colour only suit on the Allroad.Something rugged and rough.
And R8 is totally opposite.

But still i will give R8 7/10 for the design.

I'll reserve the OVERALL RANKING till i see the interior,Engines, performance and price.

Jugnu-

If you haven't already noticed, you can order the R8's side panel in any color you want. How many two-tone R8s have you seen, exactly? The concept looked fabulous- marine-ish blue with silver panel- and all the test mules have been solid colors.

The allroad wasn't two-tone. It was cladding. There actually is a difference.

GermanNutGermanNut - 9/16/2006 1:45:24 PM

We all know that Audi does indeed make the best interiors as you have already said.

The R8 will be a halo car for the brand and its image will skyrocket into never before seen levels and it will make breakthroughs into the area where BMW has never gone (with a supercar) with equally awesome levels of performance.

CarNutCarNut - 9/16/2006 2:31:18 PM

The car will have 420 hp
MDalle: that is camo, and there are no official pics of this car yet

This car will be about as fast as a Ferrari F430 with the 4.2 engine, and I dont know much about the 5l engine thats coming up

Unlike JUNGU Ill reserve my overall rating until I drive it and not read about it on car sites

You are funny. Those are test mule shots. Why would Audi release a car with tape stuck to it?

There were even some A4s and A6s S line with these same two tone colour.
So i were also reffering them. Not the cladding on the Allroad.
and the previous allroad do have this colour.

Offcourse it will be in the F430, 911, Corvette, SL AMG,6 series M and gallardo category.
And i really doubt it's going to outperform the gallardo, let alone the new 600BHP one.

No, the R8 will not outperform the Gallardo. The Gallardo has been upgraded to 600 horsepower, meaning it will be substantially quicker than the current Gallardo.

The V10 R8 will be closer to the Gallardo in terms of performance.

V8 R8 will go 0-60 in 3.9-4.2 seconds

V10 R8 will likely do 0-60 in the 3.6-3.9 category

One thing is certain. In one form at least, the R8 will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds.

It's not going to be a supercar for nothing.

Like I said before it will have a power to weight ratio of 7.2 lb per hp. The M6's power to weight ratio is worse at 7.8.

GermanNut-

I think you're underestimating the 0-60 times a bit. That may be what AUDI is going to say, but they always, always, always say their cars are slower than they actually are.

I think that the V8 will accomplish the famous task in under four seconds, if my logic is correct. The RS4 can do it in 4.3, and the new Porsche 911 Turbo (which weighs 4,800lbs) does it in 3.4 seconds. Although the Turbo has 480hp, the V8 R8 shouldn't have much less, and the V10 R8, which weighs 600lbs less than the Turbo and has more power, will truly be a bargain ultra-supercar. It may even encroach on Murcielago (not LP640, but the last-gen) territory, for about $115K.
