10 Best Key Fobs

Have to agree with the Infiniti, it's a really well designed piece. I never notice it in my pocket, which is usually one of my major pet peeves with a key fob.

That Bentley one is great too, although I'm surprised they haven't gone wireless yet like the other luxury car brands!?!

The last gen Lexus key was just a long stick type deal. I guess they must have upped the ante. Audi/VW's switchblade is pretty nice. Nice to see GM represent with #10. Way to go General!

The key in question was the 2003 Audi A4 key Fob with the FlipOut Key Design.

The BMW key fob is beautiful.

Not sure if you've been to Dallas, but i guarantee you that anybody working Security at Fort-Worth Airport is an AMERICAN.

Especially after the whole 9/11 debacle and this whole Homeland Security Nonsense.

The Porsche Cayenne has a funny looking key fob...looks like a mini-Cayenne.

The new 3-series key fob looks better then the one they show. the fob is so much nicer looking...

I built a 530xi online for the Mrs, and there's a smartkey that you can get that looks better than the BMW key shown here. I believe it's made out of aluminum, very cool.

Mercedes key is nice, so is the new Cadillac. The Jaguar fob looks elegant, but I don't really understand how it's shaped.

Didn't you read the article? It said Mercedes was the first manufacturer to use it but stopped using it soon after, so Audi was pretty much the first one by default.

Mercedes Benz was the first to use the "swichblade" key fob, beginning with the SL in the early '90s. I'm not sure when it was first introduced, but it was definitely on the '92 SL. That key was used throughout the brand until the 1998 model year when they introduced the first "Smart Key."

well i drive an s40 and my key is $150 to replace. i know on mercedes its about $150-$250, depending on the style and year of the key

All the other key FOBS are made out of plastic too, but they made them appear more STYLISH and perhaps more HQ.

The Bentley key FOB for example is quite handsome. The Mercedes key FOB has real chrome (I had the same key FOB when I had a rental E280 CDI in Europe).

Compared to the others, the Lexus key FOB looks pretty boring. Be realistic and open your eyes. This isn't a rant, it's the truth.

a woman came into the dealership to trade a 94 nissan 300zx and it had a reg key with a big z on it, no keyless entry but it was still pretty bitch looking.

"bitch looking?" Is that a good thing? Anyway, I liked the Bently fob the best. Then again, If I'm paying over a quarter of a million dollars for a car that fob better be laden with diamonds and sing praises to me every time I look at it.

The paragraph about the Lexus fob was confusing. They weren't actually talking about the new LS's credit-card fob, they were writing about the switchblade employed on the GS if I'm not mistaken. The LS fob, they said, will come out when the car comes out. Oddly enough they only showed the picture of that one.

It was actually Mercedes...they used the flip-out key from '92-'97 and wound up introducing the first "smart key" afterwards.

Lexus has never had a switchblade key, they've had the remote entry built onto the key and the SmartAccess system. But they've never had the switchblade one.

I am not sure about the non BMW ones but most of them look like they are one piece, in other words the actual blade key does not separate like the BMW one.

With BMW, you can take the key blade off the fob, turning it into a valet fob. Very handy!!!

Hi. Can you tell me how to open the BMW key? I have a key that the face (where the buttons are)lost the buttons marks and the BMW logo. I purchased a used key with a good face and want to replace it with my original key. Thanks for any tip.
