If The 2018 Audi A7 Looked Like THIS, Would You Have The Check Book Ready?

If The 2018 Audi A7 Looked Like THIS, Would You Have The Check Book Ready?

A couple of renderings are showing us what the next generation of the Audi A7 may be looking like.

Ever since Audi has introduced the Prologue Concept, it has given designers a free hand in imagining all sorts of vehicles and replacements for the current models and the Audi A7 makes no exception from this rule. The two images posted below are nothing more than simple renderings which have been put together by DesignRM. The model in question has been based, of course, on the Prologue Concept, and it has received some styling tweaks in order to resemble the next generation A7. The styling differences between the A7 Sportback and the next generations of the A6 and A8 will be very different.

That's the kind of stuff I *don't* like. Huge gaping-hole grill. Squinty headlights. Deep body creases. Not my cup of tea.

Love the aggressive grill, sleek headlights and sculptural body definition.

The rear has an odd crease but I say home run like the current A7

I think the market is underestimating how aggressive and beautiful Audi's next-generation A6, A7, A8 and brand-new Q8 flagship SUV will be.

The Prologue Concept really sets the stage for a far more aggressive design strategy and, when combined with Audi's increased differentiation between models - a home run!

If the Prologue concept was to preview "aggressive and beautiful" styling they it and its permutations should not have been Camry bland in their execution.

Why not make the whole freaking car one big grille on wheels?

this is all BS, this is not a good design. Proportions are all wrong. Leave the design to Audi designers, they know what they are doing

the rear needs to be sharper or smoother, not that in between look.

For all you people whining about the big grill or "gaping hole", and complaining about any design feature that deviates even slightly from the generic, you can save a lot of money by purchasing a gently used 1998 Mercury Sable. Nice small grill, larger headlights and no strange creases to interrupt those smooth lines.

MBCLS07: I don't think anyone is going down the path you've laid out for them. There are lots of very different yet beautiful designs that are completely unlike this rendering. Examples include the immensely popular Audi Q5, Bentley GTC, Porsche Mecan, Mercedes SL500 and Mercedes E-class (back in the days of quad round headlights). All very different. All unlike this rendering. All very beautiful.

Nobody is arguing in favor of a bland, generic design (as you propose). Nobody is saying "change is bad." There are just some people saying the styling language in this specific rendering doesn't work for them. That's VERY different than your (mis)understanding.

Gee - a new Ford Fusion - with slightly better headlights WOW

Really! - The 6 sided Grill is now found on Chevys and Fords. It is the Lower grill on the new Volt - Cruze - and Malibu - as well as on the Focus and Fusions - the upcoming Taurus too. While it is indeed far better than the cow catcher Audi uses - it seems that Lincoln gets the better of VW in copying. Bentley complains about The Continental - so its parent company DUMBS DOWN its other premium division by copying what is now a FORD level look.

It's a good look, and consumers like it. I think that rendering is pretty hot. Would love to see it in other colors.
