Audi Positioning The 2016 TT RS As A 911 For $40K Less?

Audi's not hanging around with its new sporting offspring; it's already preparing the hotter TT RS, caught here in our latest spy photographs.

Purportedly a TTS, there are a few telltale giveaways that raised our suspicions. Like the fact that it's got Audi's larger, wave-patterned and drilled brake discs (currently unavailable on the S), RS brake callipers and - our man with the long lens observed - RS-spec dampers under the mostly aluminium bodywork.

Our best guess? That this is indeed a late prototype testing the 2016 Audi TT RS running gear.

Delusional thinking! So they want people to believe that a Golf with an ugly body is as good as a 911? Even with $40K off, that's sheer idiocy.

The TT needs to die. It is a TERRIBLE seller and is in no way taken seriously.

You may be right about the conclusion, Matt. The TT has been looking for a purpose since its original embodiment.

Beyond that, the comparison might be more credible if it stated the TT RS was aimed at the Boxster S / GTS. It would probably not cut it as a car but it would make more intellectual sense....

LOL, Audi's next victims the 911 and the S Class. How do I miss the good old days of quattro.

The TT is a glorified VW Golf R and it should be discontinued. The A3 renders it redundant.

The VW Beetle is in essentially the same category and should also be discontinued.
