GM CEO, Mary Barra, Orders A Sinister Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible
It's not every day that we get to see exactly what the leading, senior-level executives are putting in their driveway. But, thanks to a plant worker at the Bowling Green assembly facility where all Chevrolet Corvettes are put together, we're getting a first look at Mary Barra's all-new ride.

For those of you who have been asleep at the wheel, Mary Barra is General Motors' CEO.

Barra didn't order a next-gen Volt or Malibu. She went a bit more high end with the likes of an all-new Corvette Z06 Convertible. In the words of Jeremy Clarkson, it looks like a symphony of evil with a triple black color combination and blacked out wheels. The only hint of color are the yellow brake calipers that stand out from the carbon ceramic discs.

For the curious, yes she did opt for the autobox and she ticked the box for the Stage 1 aerodynamics package — this can be deduced from the rear lip spoiler. The front splitter will be installed at the dealer when it arrives in Detroit.

Keep an eye out for Barra smoking the rears on Detroit's mean streets, folks!

It’s not every day that the Bowling Green Assembly Plant receives an order to make a car for the company CEO, but this week the workers from UAW Local 2164 assembled a 2015 Black Corvette Z06 Convertible that will be shipped to GM’s headquarters in Detroit for General Motors Chief Executive Officer Mary Barra.

Mary took the reins at GM in January 2014 just in time for the North American International Auto Show, and coincidentally, the launch of the C7 Corvette Z06. The sports car obviously made an impression on the newly minted CEO too. Now, a year and couple months after the highly acclaimed sports car’s launch at NAIAS, she finally gets to sample the “technological tip of GM’s spear” (quoting Fehan) – the 2015 Corvette Z06.

The Corvette has almost always been better as an automatic. With that much power, a manual transmission gives a negligible bump in performance but in daily driving, a manual is more of a hindrance than a benefit.

Looks pretty wicked :) And that 8-speed is a fantastic transmission. But she'll only be able to drive it 1/2 the year in Detroit :-/ So she'll still need a GM SUV for the colder months.

I like the yellow calipers. I think the default color on the Z06 is black for those, but it adds a nice splash of color.

Meh. Our investor group would have been a lot more impressed with her leading by driving their electric Spark. That's their most innovative vehicle by far.

I don't think that car is aimed at people who command a salary as hefty as hers.

Nice Vette though!!!
