FCA Follows GM In Slashing Powertraiin Warranties To Just 60,000 Miles - Will That Influence You On Your Next Purchase?
FCA US is cutting back the mileage of its powertrain warranty on some 2016 model year vehicles. Rather than the current five years/100,000 miles of coverage, the new amount is five years/60,000 miles for gasoline-fueled models from Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram.

In March 2015, General Motors made a similar switch to five-years/60,000-miles of coverage for Chevrolet and GMC, and FCA US seems to be citing this as part of the reason for the shift. "Following changes already made by competitors, FCA US is adjusting powertrain warranty coverage for 2016 model year vehicles to be more consistent with industry practices," the automaker said in a portion of its statement.

But 60,000 miles is about when all the under-tested, poorly-engineered shit on a GM begins breaking!

The manufacturer should allow folks to extend their warranty for free if they show proof of having committed to the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule.

The Big Three are not even on my radar, so this doesn't affect me one iota.

GM and certainly Chrysler have not been on my list of consideration and their doing this just reinforces my notion even further.

Doesn't affect me, as there's nothing in either product line that interests me.

That said, it seems that almost all manufacturers are reducing warranty coverage. Not much faith in your products, huh?

Actually - a longer warranty does not show faith in your product - it actually is the opposite - you need the longer warranty to get people to buy your product.

However - this change just brings FCA in line with basic warranties from VW, Toyota, Mazda, Subaru, Gm , Ford, and Honda.

And higher line product from Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Astin Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Volvo. Porsche, Land Rover, Jaguar have shorter PowerTrain Warranties - with Ferrari (2Years) and Lamborghini (3 years) being among the shortest. So WHO is showng a lack of faith in their product?

For most the 5 years is the limiting factor, though it may will help them sell extended warranties or help them fund the wave of mandatory recalls hitting the industry.

I wouldn't touch a GM or FCA car to begin with.
