**Special thanks to Fred Khaz for the images and video!

Here's what BMW had to tell us before...

The new BMW 330e Plug-in Hybrid.
Looking further ahead, the BMW 3 Series will celebrate a very special milestone in 2016 with the launch of the BMW 330e. After driving the i8, I'd want a plug-in hybrid BMW.

You are not going to compare an I8 to this. - They are not in the same league.

In this case - you are getting a low range (22 miles) - Hybrid that will probably NEVER pay for itself with savings. But you do not buy a 3 series BMW for its fuel mileage. You buy for its performance.

I8 is a poser mobile, will not sell in significant numbers and is an expensive, marginally attractive and not very practical car. A car guy like yourself might want it but your average high dollar hybrid buyer will be unimpressed and go towards a more practical alternative for similar money...ie Tesla P85D.
