Ferrari To Resurrect Dino As Twin Turbo V6 Sports Car

The iconic Ferrari Dino is set for a sensational comeback to the Prancing Horse’s range, most likely as a new £150,000 mid-engined sports car powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine.

The prospect of the Dino’s return to the Ferrari range after a four-decade-long absence has been spoken up directly by recently-appointed Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne, who told Autocar that the revival of the Dino name was “not a question of if but when”.

One of Ferrari’s most iconic names, Dino was used on V6 and V8-powered models in the 1960s and 70s as Ferrari sought to make more affordable but no less desirable cars under a new sub-brand, and push up volumes.

You can take Sergio Marchionne's word with a grain of salt. Over and over he has told the motor press about FCA's upcoming products but they never show up, or if they do, they are years late and full of initial defects. (see the Jeep Renegades lined up in "storage"waiting for bug fixes). Marchionne's leadership skills are dreadful as he changes his mind so often that the organization cannot get anything done. The Dino won't happen!!

@Vette71 you do know that the bug getting fixed was that the computer system was not recognizing VIN numbers right? You cannot sell a vehicle without a valid VIN number.

Yes. It is still a sign of a company that doesn't have its act together, and the person at the head is responsible. The dealers and the customers get screwed. Marchionne laid out a 5 year product plan for investors months ago. He is now pushing key new products (Jeep GC, Wagoneer, new RAM. etc.) out and dropping others. Cash is getting tight. One wonders if he is trying pump up the FCA image or find a merger partner to personally cash out as he exits in the months ahead. Dino won't really happen.

So throw a turbo on a Pentastar V6, slap it in the 4C and restyle.
