Last week, BMW dropped a bombshell when it presented all the key information surrounding its all-new 2016 X1 sport-utility vehicle headed for showrooms in the fall. As we received the first-gen X1 late in its lifecycle, this "quick" change is anything but.

Now we're just in lock-step with the global launch of the X1.

Right off the bat most of you noticed the all-new X1's better proportions, matured design and increase in size. That's only the start of it though as you'll soon find out there's more beneath than what meets the eye.

Although the presenter speaks about the models slated for the U.K. — diesel, front-wheel drive, etc. — please note the U.S. market will receive only one variant at first, an xDrive 28i.

I think its a huge improvement and looks really nice. I am sad to see BMW and Mercedes introducing front wheel drive options though. They should stick to either rear or all only.
