STUD or DUD: What's Your FIRST Impression Of The 2016 BMW 7-Series M Sport? WEIGH IN!
Across every BMW model in the product portfolio there's the optional M Sport package. For us, it can make or break a vehicle's design that may come off a bit tame or, in some cases, bland. The M Sport package adds a bit of panache with larger wheels and tires, as well as new front/rear clips and side skirts. Depending upon the model, there may be some more little additions on the exterior or interior.
When photographs of the all-new 7-Series leaked out in December, many were left a bit deflated. That's because a lot of speculation led folks to believe that the all-new 7 would be revolutionary. People still clinging to hope said "wait until you see the M Sport package."

The accent that runs from the front fender and below the doors looks terrible in chrome or black. Not feeling it.

As a multiple BMW owner/lessee and fanboy, I have to say that the S-Class has it all over this iteration of the 7-Series. The S-Class has a visual presence and impact that is sorely lacking in the BMW. The new 7 is OK to look at, and I'm sure it's comfortable. But, BMW obviously made no attempt to raise the bar this time around.

I agree, the front profile is the biggest offender

Neither stud nor dud. I think it looks okay, but it doesn't inspire me to learn more about it. The hockey-stick accent on the side looks out of place, though.

Do this! Go back in time, on this site, and read the comments about the NEW S Class {"STUD OR DUD? First Look At The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class - Luxury Redefined Or Just Fine?"}
Plenty criticized the styling of the S-Class. Today, many praise it. Stick to your guns. Don't flip flop.
This New 7 looks good. Outside and inside.

I never praised the MB S-Class; especially the interior (and the wife owns a MB). The S-class interior has to rank as one of the UGLIEST interiors in their history. Have you seen that LONG dash and Buick looking steering wheel. For a car that cost that much, they could have EASILY design a better looking dash and steering wheel. This reminded me of a 1980 Buick that had those looonnnnng square dashes in those crappy GM cars. Only difference is this car cost a good $150K plus.
I'll stick with my BMWs or Audi's if the interior looks like that.

Now that I see it in other color, it looks nice to me but the front of ALL latest BMW still ugly and this not the exception... Inside it looks very nice to me...

The exterior designers at BMW must i) have a great time doing little while getting paid for it OR ii) be very frustrated creative types who can't do anything innovative.

I would have liked it...but then came the S-Class. It makes everything else look dull somehow. I have not been a fan of Mercedes until recently (except the old school 450 SEL 6.9 era stuff) but I have to say the S-class, C class and probably the soon to arrive E-class have raised the styling bar.

The S class has road presence which i can't comment on until i see this car in person, but all the new BMWs have road presences imho so i am too worried.
The M sport is sportier than any version of S class and more my style. Interior looks better than s class.
overall i give the 7 a slight edge in M sport guise. in regular guise, i give s class an edge.
if i were driving i would buy the 7. if i were being driven i'd go for s class.

Its just okay. The interior is nice though. I like the starlight pattern a la Rolls Royce in the sunroofs. Hot shit.

The M-Sport 7-Series sells in such few numbers globally that it is irrelevant. BMW should have focused on making the basic 7-Series a better car.

that is because the 7 m sport has been a fail design till now.
i expect 7 m sport sales to shoot up and cannibalize a lot of 6GC sales. good for bmw because the 7 will be a higher margin car (i am pretty sure they will make more money on 7 than 6)..
i am seeing bmw sell a lot more m sport cars over the last year or so than every before...
