Audi Q3 Vs Range Rover's Evoque - Which Is The Better Compact Crossover?

Can a raft of updates thrust the Audi Q3 to the top of the cut-throat crossover class and take the wind out of the Evoque’s sails?

Premium compact crossovers are big business for car makers at the moment. Buyers are drawn by their combination of executive car luxury, off-roader looks and strong practicality.

One front-runner in the class is the Audi Q3. It’s been in showrooms for four years now, and has proven a hit with buyers. However, that hasn’t stopped Audi from giving the car a mid-life facelift.

The Q3 (as does the X1) comes across as, "I want the badge, but cannot afford the Q5." Where as the Evoque screams I want a luxury SUV in a smaller package. The Evoque does not come across as someone who wanted a Range Rover, but could not afford the RR Sport, (or Disco Sport soon)

I'd take the Evoque because it's sexier by far, but neither would be on my shopping list.

New X1 is cheaper than the evoque and imho just as good looking and the overall winner.

I took the Evoque and enjoy it both around town and in the mountains.
