They Don't Make Them Like They Used To - Brand New Z06 Corvette Suffers Catastrophic Engine Failure After Only 6 Miles
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a brand-new Chevrolet Corvette suffering from a major mechanical issue. According to a report from Corvetteforum.com, the owner of this C7 Z06 suffered engine failure with just six miles on the odometer. Apparently its owner was driving it home from the dealer when a knocking sound began. And then bits of the LT4 V8 went everywhere. One of the photos you’re looking at shows "the side of the engine block and the part of the piston that went through the block."

More proof that regardless of manufacturer or country (American, German or Japanese) all these high performance engine will eventually fail. At least this is still under warranty.

Except this wasn't eventual failure, it was immediate failure. That has to be pretty shattering to owner confidence. Hopefully they replace the entire car, not just the engine.

Every engine will eventually fail.

Yikes. There's something wrong with this motor because this isn't the first time a brand new one fails catastrophically. Hope they figure it out ASAP.

This isn't the first time a brand new motor from ANY manufacturer failed. And I am sure we could find an example of such a thing happening to every manufacturer.

However - this is probably the best result - because it is obvious that this happened due to a defective part. A manufacturer cannot X-ray every part however they design them essentially to last the normal expected lifetime of a car. Generally - if a part lasts for the warranty period - it is likely to last the life of the car when properly maintained. And hopefully and usually a defective parts fails within the warranty period - so at least the repair is covered.
