Mercedes-Benz Says It Is Targeting BMW's X6 With Awkward Looking High Performance GLE Coupe
Mercedes-Benz is expanding its crossover family with a new niche vehicle to lure the nontraditional SUV buyer: the GLE Coupe, aimed at the BMW X6.

The 2016 GLE Coupe has four doors but coupelike styling and is designed to appeal to buyers looking for sporty, emotional styling, said Wolf-Dieter Kurz, Mercedes-Benz vice president of product group SUVs and sports cars.

The Coupe won’t be available with the Mercedes off-road package and will be sold only as a high-performance model in the U.S., said Kurz.

I didn't think the awkward-looking X6 market was big enough for someone to fight for a piece of it.

You can say the same about the CLS, and now everyone is trying to create cars for that niche. X6 is Ugly but now at least they have one that compare with it in ugliness, however in off road capabilities, I bet the MB is better but in normal road the X6 could have the lead..

Well, this niche is definitely unique...I am sure there will be a smaller Benz to compete with the BMW X4. They seem to be less awkward in the smaller size, and I am sure they are all a blast to drive.
