Knocking On Lexus Door? Genesis Sedan Global Sales Surpass 100,000 Units In First 18 Months
Hyundai has sold more than 100,000 units of the second-generation Genesis, just 18 months after the model launched in November 2013. The new luxury sedan achieved the sales landmark 10 months sooner than the first-generation model.

Roughly half of all second-generation Hyundai Genesis sedans were sold in South Korea (52,661 units), while exports totaled 53,254 units. Combined sales of the new Hyundai Genesis are 105,915 units by the end of May 2015.

Built exclusively in South Korea, the luxury sedan is exported to Chinese, European, Middle East, and North American markets. The Genesis is a success in North America in particular, currently occupying third place in the US midsize luxury sedan market.

It's an excellent product, but Genesis needs to be a BRAND.

The Genesis markdowns are incredible...$5-$7k in the market I live in.

All of the low-hanging premiums are discounted. If you pay anywhere near list price for any of them you're a fool.

At least externally, this car looks better than Lexus's offerings. Not exciting or evocative, but definitely not ugly like today's Lexi.

It's very appealing in person, but it's a bit toned down. Had Hyundai clicked up a notch or two it would have been a standout. I will say that I prefer the Genesis over the new XF.

I think Lexus makes some of the most beautiful vehicles out there today.

@leej really? The RC is beautiful but everything else not so much. My old LS was a handsome car. But I guess you have bad taste, didn't you just get a NX200? Pretty ugly.

Looks too much like a stretched Mazda, not bad just generic. I imagine it would be a good value if actual sales price is >10% less than Lexus. Lexus though owns reliability.

Lexless?
It's Audi, BMW and MB that are quaking in their boots.

Friend just bought one of these. Improvement over the first gen but in the interior shows where the cost cutting is done compared to the primium brands. Drive was less than desirable.

Yes...I did lease a Lexus NX 200t F Sport a few months ago and I absolutely love it. I have gotten very many compliments on it too. And, the sales are doing really well, so some other folks like it too. It's of no consequence to me if you think I have bad taste.

You have bad taste and bought this because you did not want to pony up the extra cash for something else in the segment.

Agent009 is smoking something really strange if he compares this car to a high-end Lexus like the LS.
