Alfa Romeo's Giulia Quadrifoglio May Just Kick Both The M3 And RS4 To The Curb With New 510 HP Twin Turbo V6

Alfa Romeo's Giulia Quadrifoglio May Just Kick Both The M3 And RS4 To The Curb With New 510 HP Twin Turbo V6
Alfa Romeo will unveil the range-topping version of its new Giulia sedan on Wednesday. The sport sedan is called the Giulia Quadrifoglio and it will be a competitor to the BMW M3 and Audi RS 4, sources said.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' sporty Italian brand plans to emphasize performance to stand out against its premium German rivals. Luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes tend to introduce high-performance variants later in a model's product cycle to maintain interest, though in some cases that is changing.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio will be the first example of Alfa's bold strategy to take on BMW, Mercedes and Audi. It is powered by a 510-hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine derived from the unit that Ferrari builds for the Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans, according to supplier sources.

"3.0-liter V-6 engine derived from the unit that Ferrari builds for the Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans" and that my friends is a Pentastar V6 they are using.

It really is too bad that a new Dodge Challenger isn't set to follow quickly on the heels of the Giulia rather than remaining on the gargantuan platform of the Charger/300.

I predict the M3 and RS4 are NOT "kicked to the curb," if that means the new Alpha Romeo sells in significant numbers and/or displaces the two as a highly desired car.

I'm not saying that Alpha Romeo makes junk. I'm just saying they aren't exactly perceived as premium vehicles, and they're not highly desired. That's the fight that Giulia is fighting, and he won't win it my horsepower or track numbers alone.

TheSteve: agreed. It is perceived as a FIAT with some extras.

To think this is where Sergio spent a lot of his precious cash. Trying to resurrect a dead brand rather than investing in know brands that need refreshed models. Now he is begging for a merger in order to keep the business going. Should the stockholders keep him?

Alfa Romeo has always made desirable vehicles, that is why it is CELEBRATING THEIR 105th ANNIVERSARY! Don't confuse their less expensive line of cars they sell (similar to Mercedes, BMW and Audi)with Alfa's long line of sports and GT cars.
