Jeep Tells Owners To Stop Driving Select Models And Have Them Towed To Dealerships

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is telling owners of 65 new 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos to immediately stop driving the vehicles and is recalling a total of 7,690 SUVs.

The automaker said it is taking the unusual step of telling owners to stop driving the vehicles because suspension components were installed that were not correctly treated by a supplier for high temperatures. That condition could cause the component to break or could rear-end instability and/or reduced braking power.

FCA also is planning to call the owners of the 65 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos.

Funny because you don't make the same comment when its VW or any other GERMAN brand. We all know JEEPs are crap but they do have an extreme loyal fan base just like TM. No matter the recalls for whatever reason their fan base will still drink the Kool Aid and claim they are "so reliable'.

USNA: Say what you will about Jeep quality, etc., but as an owner of 3 BMWs affected by the Takata airbag debacle, I know it took BMW over a year to acknowledge the problem and finally issue recall letters. At least Jeep is taking care of the problem in a timely manner.

Bad stuff happens and "news flash, nobody is perfect". A good quality system is set up to find the defects that do happen as early as possible in the process of designing, making or owning a very complex product. This one was found and is being acted upon with less than 1% of the defects in customers hands. And they know where they are. That is damn good. As far as Jeeps being "crap" USNA1999, I will take my 2015 GC which has been flawless since I got it over any TM product. At least Jeep's have soul versus bland TM appliances.
