TVR Back From The Dead And Already Taking Deposits 2017 Model

Reborn TVR says it will start taking deposits for its new sports car later this month, ahead of the car going on sale officially in 2017.

Responding to what the company has called the "huge, positive, public reaction" to its announcement to return to manufacturing, the British firm says it will open order books for its new sports car much sooner than originally planned.

In a statement, TVR said "sports car enthusiasts the world over are lining up to buy what promises to be one of the most exciting new sports cars of the decade." Interested owners can place a £5000 deposit for the new model.

I couldn't be more thrilled. Remember, you can import and own a non-federalized TVR as long as it's a track car. Interesting that they're going with a Cozzie V8 instead of Ford's Voodoo. There was scuttlebutt that the Voodoo might be implemented for emissions. That may be what happens when the eventual US bound TVRs happen in a few years. For me 2017 cannot come swiftly enough. I may need to add on to my garage. :)

Hope it is not a POS like previous TVRs. 70's interiors, 80's mechanicals, boy racer parts hanging from every corner, body cooling slits made by a 9 year old with a can opener and the reliability that was poor even by British standards. Top Gear called the TVR Sagaris the worst super car they had ever driven. A car so bad that it put TVR out or business.

Jeremy Clarkson actually extolled the virtues of the Sagaris on Top Gear.

The charm of a TVR will always be lost on snobs. Their very essence is their utter eccentrism and yes rude quality.

The Sagaris is reliable if you do a couple of things to it. First is to have the Speed 6 balanced by Green Door TVR. With a few very minor upgrades you're pretty good to go for a hard-charging, great handling track toy.

Granted a TVR will be more fiddly than a Camry, but they can take a licking and keep on ticking. Because I know how to work on cars, I am not averse to wrenching on a TVR. I'm partial to the Tuscan S and the Sagaris Speed 6.

Several TVR fanatics :) have dropped the LS7 V8 into the Sagaris and let me tell you that is worth the price of entry.

I currently am working on a Tasmin coupe that I plan to drop a 2.3 Ecoboost into. The test fit went well. It will need a custom driveline and custom rear half shafts, but that's easy to do.

Yeah it's a Frankenstein but is should be a hoot and a half.

Clarkson is a bumbling idiot when it comes to cars - - - even he said that the Sagaris looks as if it was "designed by a lunatic and then hit with an ax". Better to look at what the Stig had to say about it, someone who really understands great driving cars - He called the Sagaris one of the 5 worst cars he had ever driven:

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/02/ben-the-stig-collins-names-the-five-worst-cars-hes-ever-drive/

MSN called it one of the world's worst supercars:

Even you imply they are true POS's otherwise there would be no need to modify them, no need to be dropping in new engines, and no need to spend all of your time at a over priced shop. Just take you Corvette to the track and let the TVR fools drive around in slower cars and parting with their money at an obscene rate.

You're absolutely right. My eyes are opened. I'm selling my TVRs.

Clarkson is a blowhard whose opinions are all over the place. He thinks the new Z06 is a POS! That alone should fully discredit him. As for the new TVR - it's probably DOA.

Well, with Gordon Murray being involved that may be cause for some optimism. But I wouldn't expect this car to be cross-shopped with much... actually maybe the Stingray in the UK, hahah. In the US this car may be cross-shopped with Lotus and the SRT Viper but that's probably about it.

The plans are for TVR to return to the USA 3-4 year after British introduction. I do suspect that a passel of them will cross the pond as track cars. I know mine will because I won't wait until 2020 or 2021 to get a new TVR onto the track.

My fondest hope is that they will reinvigorate the old plant in Blackpool, but I don't think TVR owns it. I do remember seeing TVRs built there when I was in high school.

Loved the place.
