Happy July 4th! So, What's The BEST Car Currently Produced By The Red, White And Blue?
Happy July 4th my fellow Americans!

Today's the day where you do you best Uncle Sam impression via the stars and stripes on your person. While we know you'll be firing up the grille, attending the local parade or thinking of those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we could spend this special day surrounded by family, we're going to try and make some room for car talk.

To keep this simple, I'll just ask one very straightforward question: WHO makes and WHAT is the best American vehicle on the market today?

Just to jog your memory, these are cars that are here:

- Chevrolet Corvette Z06
- Cadillac ATS-V
- Ford Mustang Shelby GT350
- Ford F-150
- Dodge Challenger Hellcat
- Tesla Model S

So, what say YOU?

A surprisingly good car is the base Mustang V6 automatic. It has as much power as an '05 GT. Base equipment has lots of included options such as track apps. The handling is quite athletic with the IRS and it can be had for $25K.

I suspect the base 16 Camaro will be quite nice. The base 15 Camaro should be a good steal. It will have everything that you need if not everything you want.

The Americans do pretty credible mid-sized sedans these days too. A base Fusion SE, a Chrysler 200 base, or a Malibu base are very affordable for about $25K, come very well equipped, and are good cars.

Of course what is an American car? Is a Fusion Mexican and a Sonata American?

Value is an American value.

or is it an American CAMRY? Ranked #1 as the most "American-made" vehicle.

SUV-Wrangler Unlimited

Luxury car-Escalade. I know, it's not a car but it's better than any American luxury at doing what a luxury car does.

Sports Car- Corvette with Hellcat Challenger a close second.

The Tesla Model S and the Z06 (and I'll include the C7 Stingray) are probably the biggest overall accomplishments on that list. These are the cars you can show off to the rest of the world and expect some approving nods.

The others... much less so, be honest.

I don't get why nobody is giving the Tesla any props here. That car is showing everyone else how to make an EV that is universally desirable as opposed to being mostly sucky. It's practical, it's fun to drive, it looks good, and it's pushing boundaries in a lot of ways.

The list is just meant to be something to remind people of, it's not "pick from these."
