OFFICIAL: Mercedes-Benz Previews The All-New E-Class' Tech — If You're A Safety Geek, This Is The Car For YOU
It's astonishing the rate of advancements in automobiles these days. It's as though every generation product leap frogs the latest vehicle to debut. At least that seems to be what is happening over at Mercedes-Benz.

At a technology event hosted by the three-pointed star, the company trotted out an all-new, camouflaged E-Class to discuss exactly what the company is working on. To keep it short, the company is working very hard to protect passengers who are inside of its products.

Here's a short list of some of the company's latest work to be seen on the all-new E-Class:

- A driver's seat that interacts with the vehicle's intelligent systems — e.g., if in a side impact accident on the driver's side, the seat will literally move the occupant towards the center of the cabin
- Pre-Safe Sound — In order to protect the inner ear from extremely loud noises, the car will send a signal through the audio system in the event an imminent crash is detected
- You heard about the Apple Watch being used as a key? Forget the watch, use your smartphone as near field communication (NFC) will make this possible
- Next-generation Mercedes vehicles will "talk" to each other and share data about the latest road conditions and weather
- And much, MUCH more.

Way to go Mercedes Benz, this is why I love this brand.

Innovations like these are part of the reason I could care less about potentially making an extra trip to the dealer for service.

It takes other manufacturers atleast a generation or 2 to keep up with the innovation of MB, and they continue to push the envelope, elevating the standards of the industry each time.

Respect

Same here. The way I look at it is that I want my money to go toward hard working people that innovate and not to the lazy companies that just reverse engineer the hard work of others.
One of the biggest inventions are crumple zones. It has saved millions of lives. It's the reason all cars on the road today are safer. Their latest Pre-Safe system is amazing. One day every car will have it and even more lives will be saved. THANK YOU MERCEDES-BENZ!

Agree with the sentiments expressed above, ie MB really commits to bringing R&D to life. Even more impressive is the fact that in the past, their new technologies are introduced through the S class and slowly migrate downstream to the E & C. Now, they are willing to introduce new technology from the E upstream and downstream, and do it quicker.
