Democrats Introduce Bill To Require Idiot Lights On Vehicle Dashboards For Outstanding Recalls
A group of Democratic Senators will introduce a sweeping auto safety reform bill Thursday that would require automakers to install warning lights on vehicle dashboards to notify owners of safety recalls. It also would require crash-avoidance technologies.

The measure — the Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 2015 — is to be introduced by Sens. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Ed Markey, D-Mass and possibly other Democrats, The Detroit News has learned.

The bill embraces many reforms that have been proposed in the wake of GM's delayed recall of 2.59 million older cars now linked to at least 121 deaths and 250 injuries — and the recall by 11 automakers of more than 50 million vehicles with Takata air bags worldwide that are linked to at least eight deaths and more than 100 injuries.

DeMoncrats believe that simply passing laws and taxing people is magic nirvana. If people are so damn dumb that they do not act on the recall letter that comes their way then they deserve to explode in hell.

It is control by regulation

I see everyone's point, however, look at the bigger picture. This is not just for daily drivers of cars receiving letters in the mail.

This is also for second-hand buyers in the market for a Used Vehicle that the seller/dealer claims the vehicle's recalls have been tended to when in fact they have not.

I'd be especially grateful for this warning light if I had a daughter or kid in highschoool/college shopping for their first car, presumably used, and they just so happen to forget about the carfax or inquiring about recalls, but a warning light reminds them.

With the increasing amount of recalls by multiple manufacturers, even I must admit its hard to keep up, I'm honestly the one who notifies my friends/family of a recall and most of them did not have a clue.

A lot of people toss that little letter they get in the mail, assuming, the car company is just trying to sell them more.

How much does this add to the cost. Obviously the vehicle has to have a way to connect to the internet and accept a download. Not a cheap option or even use on a daily basis at the current rates.

It is amazing how folks in Washington come with these "regulations" without a clue as to how much this will cost their constituents.

Typical left-wing idiocy. You attempt to appear to have the top hand in the conversation by bullying others. But hey, it worked for Obama twice.

I think if we read the comments here, it's clear who the bullies are...it's why you worship Trump so much. Try all the psychological transference you like...the country is too smart for your silly antics.

Hey Leej-I think Trump is a joke and am tired of his antics too. We've got people like him spouting out crazy comments and people like Sanders coming out stating how he can't wait to raise taxes to pay for more social engineering programs.

My point is that some of you people think that ALL Democrats are maniacal socialist nut jobs. Right here in Republican controlled North Carolina, Republicans lowered state income tax, then behind the scenes raised ever other tax revenue stream available...all to the detriment of the poor and elderly (yes, even increasing the taxes on pensions for retired people). Next, they are taking sales taxes charged in the more populated counties, and they are redistributing them across the state to less populated counties...gee, sounds like socialism to me. So stop acting like certain behaviors are only attributed to people of a particular ideology...there are plenty of examples like this that cross the aisles. Of course, the 'entertainers' over at Fox never tell you these other stories.

Leej-You just took time to criticize me for attributing advocacy of increased taxes and use of social programs to all Democrats, yet your comment above (prior to that) implied that all Republicans support Trump and agree with his comments which is far from the truth. A small contingent is supporting him, but most Republicans are not fond of him. The guy voted for Obama in 2008 for pete's sake, and will do anything to get attention.

As for calling out Fox, you do realize that all the "mainstream" outlets are completely biased to the left, and there have been ample studies done showing their favorable coverage of the Democratic nominee in the past 3 election cycles, while the number of negative stories for the GOP nominee was much higher. It cracks me up that there is one network that leans to the right (Fox), and lefties are all up in arms as they've been accustomed to having all news coverage go their way for years.

As for socialism, while not every Democrat may be as extreme as Obama and Sanders supporters are, I would venture to guess that over 90% of Democrats believe in raising taxes at the federal level, and also believe that it's the federal government's responsibility to provide health insurance and many other governement-run programs to its citizens. The same can be said for the GOP that it tends to favor as limited of government as possible, and would reduce taxes in place of expanding expenses to federal programs. You may be in the 10% of Dems that do not favor increasing taxes or the spend on federal social programs, but the generalization still applies.
