Report Indicates That New Alfa Romeo Giulia Will Spank Both M3 And AMG C63 In 0-60 Shootout

It has been just a few weeks ago that Alfa Romeo has pulled off the wraps off the Giulia but we still don’t have a clue on its official performance figures.

This is going to change very fast because according to a recent report, the range-topping version of the performance sedan is capable of reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed will stand at an impressive 321 km/h (200 mph) and this basically means that it will be faster than its main rivals, the BMW M3 and the Mercedes-AMG C63 S. Rumor has it that the vehicle has been tested on the Nurburgring too and an official lap time is going to be posted shortly.

Making a car faster than an M3 is EASY. Making it as robust and bulletproof...not so easy.

Easy? East to spank or beat the ultimate driving machine at Nurburgring? Not a chance. Also, no one ever accused BMW of being reliable.

#1 the title says 0-60 so the "ring" is not a factor. The report says it will be faster to 60mph and have a top speed of 200mph. That is the context of "faster". The report says that a ring time will be posted but it does not brag that the ring time will be better than a BMW.

#2 BMW are significantly more reliable than Jaguar or Audi and it's a toss up as to which premium is the most durable between BMW and Mercedes. The engines and transmissions tend NOT to be the issue and the electronic doo dads the annoyances.

many cars are faster than M3 in a straight line
many cars are faster in the track than m3
many cars are cheaper than M3
many cars are more luxurious than M3
many cars are better seating for 4 and trunk space than m3
many cars have better ride comfort for day to day driving than m3
many cars are more reliable than m3 (factor in bmw maintenance free warrnty)

zero cars beat m3 in all the above. good cars get 3/7, some manage 4/7 hardly and cars go above that.

the new jag and this fugliness are all trying to get 7/7--good luck with that.

Neither Mercedes NOR Bmw are particularly dependable cars - based on the JD POWER surveys - where both are rated about average =- the newer C class is a little better. Lexus wins that award. Amazingly - the Lincoln MKZ ranks pretty high.

The fact is - anyone who has owned a "premium" car - like these - knows that they are at the leading edge of technology - including their engines and transmissions - and they simply have more problems than more basic vehicles of similar size. BUT - owners KNOW that and don't let that stop them from buying the cars new - since they have a warranty. I note that at least one major reviewer says they would not buy these cars out of warranty.

Nice try Tommy, now compare BMW and Mercedes reliability to Audi. Audi is a warranty nightmare. BMW and Mercedes virtually are not by comparison.

The real measure is warranty incidence rate NOT JD Power.

JD Power surveys owners and owners of premium cars go from 0-pissed off in a nanosecond. They are among the most entitled and narcissistic people on the planet. Thus when JD Power comes along, they piss and moan like the bizznatches they are.

Warranty incidence rate tells a vastly different story.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only spanking will be in top speed, and that's mainly because the M3 and C63/S have governed top-ends. They both have consistently tested to perform under 4 seconds to 60/62.

i dont care how fast this alfa will be, after having a maserati ghibli sq4, i dont have much faith that alfa will be more reliable than the bmw. after 5 bmws. (3 m3's ) i think bmw will still be better overall.
