SPIED: That Was FAST! The 2016 BMW 7-Series Will Get A Souped Up Alpina B7 — FIRST Pics HERE!
It seems like for about 10 plus years now owners and enthusiasts of the BMW 7-Series have been asking for an M variant. As of now, no dice folks. The closest we ever got was the E38 740i Sport and the current-generation that features an M Sport package.

While I am sure some will point to the Alpina B7, it technically speaking isn't a BMW product. It's an Alpina. And given the company's tendency to botch the job with a peculiar motor or transmission, it never has won me over. Just me, folks.

But that doesn't mean Alpina will close up shop for one curmudgeon's perspective. These latest spy shots make it clear that an all-new Alpina B7 is on the way.

Rumored to feature a 4.4-liter V8 good for upwards of 600 horsepower, this large, luxury sedan is expected to put down some serious numbers. Seen here for the first time, the tell-tale signs are linked to the front splitter, larger intakes, lowered stance and what appears to be a large lip spoiler that's not nearly as tasteless as the current-gen B7. Expect a bright blue hue, large diameter radial wheels and some 1980s inspired pinstriping on the next-gen B7.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The M sport package on the current 7 is strictly cosmetic so how the heck can you say it's the closet BMW has gotten to a M7 model??? And OMG!!! Not "large diameter radial wheels"!!! I was hoping for some square wheels.

I have to say this site is full of idiotic posts and I sometimes wonder if you guys are getting paid by Mercedes and Audi because the bias against BMW is becoming quite comical. Taking idiotic jabs at a car which is in camo is pretty low even for this sites already low standards.

OK. Maybe if you read this really slow, you'll get it. Maybe not. I'll try though.

Yes, the M Sport package on the current-gen product is purely cosmetic. That's the point I am making...

And radial wheels is referring to the design of the rims that Alpina is known for. See here:

So, yeah.

And I will voice my opinion on the tacky add ons Alpina does because we're a site the embraces opinions. If you want straight news you can find it on AutoBlog.

Alpina is a manufacturer in name only. BMW makes the Alpina B7 on the same line as the other BMW 7 Series models. Just as Shelby lends its name to Ford for the GT350, the same is true with the Alpina B7.

sl55on20s: Few moths ago I said that AUTOSPIES works for BMW but by the end I have admit that they said their opinion and you also have that right (and ALL opinion are always biased in some way so that's why I do prefer the Numbers), so what is your issue SL55 AMG. The M sport package on the current 7 is strictly "cosmetic" so how the heck can you say it's the closet BMW has gotten to a M7 model? I agree is cosmetic and even if do not like it, coming from BMW that is is the closest thing to an M7 that you will have for now, so accept the reality, and buy an S63 or S65 and enjoy your life... :-)

By the way, Alpina is almost like the AMG arm of Mercedes but cheaper which is good for other budgets.

Personally, I think BMW needs to commit to their M division and create an M variant across the board, especially with the 7. Not sure why they insist on these Alpina versions, as many relate that to the aftermarket.

One can only hope the company will turn out a proper M7. I mean, they build the X5M and X6M, it wouldn't be THAT much more of a stretch to do a SWB M7.
