Lotus Planning 400HP Supercharged 3.5 Liter Evora Roadster

A roadster version of the Lotus Evora 400 will be launched, boss Jean-Marc Gales has revealed to Autocar.

The new model will follow the introduction of the 400bhp V6-powered Evora 400 coupé, which is set to go into production next month.

“We are working on it now,” said Gales at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Gales said the Evora 400 would lose no structural rigidity when converted from a coupé to a convertible due to the design of its extruded and bonded aluminium tub chassis.

I like most of the styling (except the rear end and rear deck), but I would never get a Lotus. According to my possibly incorrect understanding, Lotus personifies some of Britain's darkest chapters of "desirable" cars in terms of low reliability and frequent repairs.

TheSteve - Not the same car as the dark days. Lotus still brings their superb suspension engineering to the table for a lightweight, quick and fun little sports car. The engine and transmission are Toyota sourced and I suspect the electronics are Bosch. As with most cars, there are compromises. It is a bit fragile due to the focus on light weight (on the plus side, tires, brakes and drivetrain components last longer and are less expensive). It is also not a good car for larger people, those concerned about stoplight to stoplight performance or those that want to set higher up.

the car looks great, Lotus doesnt have a problem with looks, they have a problem with reliability.
