Volvo Brings Tuner Polestar In House - Will This Become A Serious Challenge To The German Performance Lines?
Volvo Cars bought Swedish racecar maker Polestar's tuning division and will use the name for an expanded high-performance line to challenge Mercedes-AMG and BMW's M models.

Volvo already sells Polestar-tuned versions of the V60 wagon and S60 sedan under a cooperation deal signed in 2013.

"We have decided to bring this experience to more Volvo drivers, placing the full resources of Volvo behind the development of Polestar," CEO Hakan Samuelsson said in a statement

Way to go Volvo, first the XC 90 SUV, now an in house tuner, it looks like Volvo will take it to the Germans(Benz & Bimmer) before Cadillac, Infiniti, Lincoln, or anybody else gets there act together.

Volvo has balls and i May stop by a showroom in the near future.

One Suggestion though...Polestar makes me think of a hot stripper...which could be good or bad I guess, I'll leave it to your marketing team

Polestar also makes me think of a hot stripper as well. With Volvo's sales being so dire, it makes sense to do a halo, but ditch the pole dancer name. Borrow a page from Mazda and do Volvospeed lol.

As a limited comparison, I saw an S60 Polestar at Thompson Speedway (CT) in May. While I didn't know the driver, which can be a significant factor obviously, it didn't seem like it was anything close to an M3/M4.

It appeared to be comparatively slow and to have substantial understeer, certainly not characteristics that I would hail as attractive from an enthusiast perspective.
